Clyde Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm surprised how close it stayed through 3 qtrs. Hats off to the Tigers and the staff.
Walter Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'm surprised how close it stayed through 3 qtrs. Hats off to the Tigers and the staff. Beechwood made a lot of tough shots they usually don't make and Holmes was kind of going through the motions. Marksberry finished with 15 for Beechwood and went o-for in their first meeting. Kudos to Beechwood for playing hard and fighting the whole game. In the end, Holmes' depth and style simply wore Beechwood down. I'll have video up of both teams tomorrow.
paNDA Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Bolden has that little floater just perfected. So smooth.

Walter Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Purdue assistant and Hep Cronin were both there tonight to watch Bolden.
Just Jim Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Palmer not in the box score for Holmes? Heard a few of the kids were sick. Did he play?
Walter Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Palmer not in the box score for Holmes? Heard a few of the kids were sick. Did he play? Played 27 minutes....0-4 from 3.
Just Jim Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Played 27 minutes....0-4 from 3. rough night. he'll bounce back with a big game.
Walter Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 rough night. he'll bounce back with a big game. He honestly didn't have a rough night. Managed the game well and took care of the ball with 5 ast. Bolden was feeling it so they kept giving him the ball. Quan just didn't knock down the few shots he took tonight. Biggest difference between this years' team and Booher's first two is that this team could care less who scores. All they want to do is win.
Voice of Reason Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Whatever happened to the McKenzie kid? Combination of things. Didn't do his work in school and did not get along with Miller last year so no desire to play for him this year. McKenzie should have never stopped playing football to focus on basketball. IMO he had more potential to play college football and improved a lot throughout the season when he played football again his senior year.
Voice of Reason Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Congratulations to the Tigers on the strong effort and hanging tough for 3 quarters. Marksberry has come a long way. Maus had a nice career at Beechwood. Nussbaum isn't done yet as track and baseball season are next. Good luck to the Bulldogs.
uselessinfo Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Looks like Beechwood was able to keep the turnovers down...............13 is not bad at all for a game against Holmes.
Cougar Nation Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Miller, the administration, and teachers did everything in the world to help that kid get eligible this year. He had time off from practice to study, extra credit assignments, and they let him have until Christmas break to get his academics back in order. In the end, the kid just could not make it happen. With regard to last year, the overall issue was constantly being ineligible or constantly being on the brink of ineligibility. The staff simply could not play him consistently knowing that he would not be available the next week. Eventually, he got dismissed from the team for another reason that I won’t go into out of deference for the kid but rest assured that the staff had no choice. Despite that fact, they tried to work with him again this year. Overall though, his lack of playing time and eventually not being on the team was entirely within his ability to control and he didn’t. Any suggestion to the contrary is ignorant of the situation.
