That would be a no brainer ....Hawkins hands down. He's been the best player on the court both times they have faced off this year. He's a much more versatile player overall.

This years UK team is evidence why it's important to have "4-year" guys on the roster. No chemistry, selfishness, etc. Why was last years group so good? Darius Miller...he would have put Harrow and Goodwin in their places this year while making Poythress play hard ALL of the time.

With that said, in my opinion, Dominique Hawkins for Madison Central should be offered a scholarship to play for UK. Not sure where he is being recruited but he is consistently putting up big numbers against the top competition in the state and nation. I know they're a little different in position but their roles could be similar on a team next year that will tout unbelievable talent but need a "SOLID" guy in the program.

What are your thoughts?

I'm not even going to read the rest of the comments. Darius Miller is 6'7 and Hawkins is 6'0. I love Hawkins but no way no how can he play at UK....no way.

Do you think Polson was better than Hawkins at this point in their playing career? Hawkins could definitely contribute if Polson can. Dominique would be a much better choice than Willis.

I'd have to disagree, Hawkins can and has put up some serious numbers against national competition, but can't play @ UK? Dropped 27 or so against the Harrions twins the night AFTER playing a big game. Jarrod Pohlson is getting big minutes @ UK yet Hawkins couldnt?

Also another reason I think Hawkins would be a nice fit for UK is that he does possess the tools and ability to do things that UK needs right now such as setting up the offense, getting the ball to players on the floor where they can be successful, play defense, but yet all while have the ability to score if needed.

Polson is only playing because Cal didn't recruit a pg...thought Harrow was the answer. Your comment should show you how bad Harrow is.

Great high school player. I'm one of his biggest fans, believe me. However, are you really saying because he had a good game against the twins he'll be productive at UK? Seriously...come back to reality. Polson plays because Harrow is that bad AND what kind of numbers has Polson put up? Look deeper into a situation....lastly with Polson getting those minutes they are only 17-7 with the NCAA no lock.

I love Dominique. I hope he goes somewhere he can play. I hope he goes somewhere that fits his skill level and doesn't have to sit for 3 years to see the floor. Great kid and great competitor. Very steady and I wish him all the luck in the world.

Dominique is athletic enough and physical enough to compete at that level IMO.

Back to the original thread theme-he is similar to Darius in the fact hes a quiet, lead by example kid that you may not see verbally jacking up a teammate during a game but provides guidance and leadership off the floor and in practice. Does the small things well.

You can argue that every team needs a Anthony Davis and MKG but winning teams need a Darius Miller. His success in college/high school speaks for itself. There's not a small things well guy on this years version of the Cats.

I believe Cal also believed Teague would return, imo. And this past season was terrible for PGs. Yogi Ferrell, Kris Dunn, and Marcus Paige highlighted the class. Those guys are a far cry from Teague, Knight, Wall, Evans, Rose, etc... You would think Harrow would be suitable enough; at least on the level of this past year's PG class aforementioned.

Great point. Harrow almost quit in December because Cal was being Cal and pushing him. Speaks volumes of his mental state IMO. Kentucky shouldn't have to have guys transfer from lesser schools (NC State and Wright State) and not only play there but start. As good as Darius Miller was, as previously stated, he's 6'7 and could guard every position on the floor. That was a small part of what made him so valuable.

The statement was made to show that he does have the ability to play at that level. However, the fact that he did drop 27 or so on a top ranked team, I would think that is a pretty strong indicator of his ability, can't fake good! Also, that game was not the only good game he has had this year, he has been consistantly good this year against all levels.

As I have said I agree with what you are saying. IMO I do not think he's on that level. If he was he would be getting recruited by big time schools.

UK's problem is when they are recruiting the best players in the country, they usually only have 8 to 9 regular scholarship players. If I'm not mistaken, I think you are allotted 13 scholarships. Why wouldn't you take the chance on someone like Hawkins? Maybe even someone like Omar Prewitt? It would draw good reviews and those kind of players could develop, and be useful down the road.

I got ya. I think the best thing that can happen is Central makes it to the state tournament and Hawkins shows extremely well and he showcases what he can truly do. If you are looking at 3 and 4 year guys, I like what he could possibly bring, maybe not his freshman year, but after that??????????????
