I am, so have you talked to the office about it? In that event, if they didn't credit you that charge, I'd go to the front desk with a crisp $20 bill, thank them for 30 years of service, can you please tell me when I can pick up a copy of my records as I look for another Peds Dr.

You got my contribution to the thread right. That is for sure. I did enough waiting when I was on active duty. Drove me nuts. But at least I was getting paid to wait then.

Ha, smart guy, I did read that part. I'm telling you what I would do if they wouldn't agree to refund the charge. And it was in generality. I can also tell you this, sometimes I place a blanket policy so there's no waffle for the girls out front when dealing with patients. This is the policy, the doctor established it, I'm simply doing my job. I tell my girls to use discretion, but they can always refer to me if there's an issue. And usually they only go so far before saying, let me get the doctor and he can discuss it with you. Sometimes they relent and I never hear about it, other times I deal with the problem bottom line. It's my baby, I'll take the responsibility for the praise and complaints alike.

I left a group just because of that charge and went someplace else. The "yearly membership fee" was for "administrative expenses" per family to run their office (sending a fax somewhere, printing extra copies, etc). Charge would not be covered by insurance because it not have a code. I guess they figured that more of their customers were wealthy and would pay it without question.

No issue at all. The owners are male. They have some female docs but I don't believe any of them are... you know... in theguru's league. LOL

Maybe I should try this no show appointment thing. Every time I show up at Guru's house for my 6am grass cutting appointment, he courteously greets me with a taser.

What was the office manager's attitude about it when they agreed to adjust the bill? Apologetic, snotty, indifferent?

 

She was nice so I have to give her the benefit of he doubt but to answer your question I couldn't decide after much thought. My gut says when she got off the phone with me (and believe it or not I was nice and did thank her and I meant it) she probably thought another one of those customers...
