Serious question Q, did your son skip two grades? A senior who was in 4th grade 6 years ago?

LOL....no my math is a little fuzzy.

Acutally 6 out of 12 or 13 man roster is more than more than 5% . Turner, Person, Covington, Price, Witherspoon, Commodore, oh Yeah and (Lil Snap been here since the six grade) (Garland and Gilkey are two Senior who Quit the team) or more like pushed away from the team.

The Short Brothers, Came over the summer during 2011 last year Wright and Parker came over the summer 2012 along with D.Jospeh

So your wrong.

Still a pitiful situation when half your roster you had to go find somewhere other than your own community. The fact that Garland and Guilkey quit or were pushed out oughta raise some flags.

i guess they got their own problems down there they are focusing on in the classroom. Didnt the state come in a couple years ago and take over?

Dont forget the Richardson kid who was brought in from Conner last year and attended Newport until hoops was over and he then transferred back to Conner so he could graduate with his buddies. LOL

I think the Garland Kid has a really good GPA maybe a 3.9 or something like that so I don't think it was Grade issues although it is not hard to find out. The Gilkey Kid I heard got a job so didn't play hoop. When the word came out that they didn't play I agree it did raise a RED FLAGG considering the Garland Kid was there leading scorer as a Sophmore and Second leading Scorer as a Jr. The state did step in a couple years back Now that you mentioned it but I don't thing grades was an issue for these two Kids.

I completly agree with you bout the Richardson Kid. But when is the Last time you seen Dillion Ruby or Jordan Nevels in Ft Thomas or Micheal Stowers :sssh: I don't want to type names out all day long.

My mentioning of the school problems was regarding the district it wasnt meant toward those two boys. I guess the way it was typed led you to believe that.

I dont remember Dillon Ruby every playing any type of major role in the Birds football program. Nevels was one player on a roster of probably 70 kids and last I checked they play 22 in a football game.

Newport's starting lineup. Short Brothers, Wright which is 3/5 or 60% of their lineup.

So lets say Highlands had maybe 2-4 kids from outside the district starting for their football team. That would still only be less than 20%.

The issues at Newport stick out like a sore thumb and the state is well aware of it. This goes back a few years when they won the Region with the 2 kids that Sherwin sent over to them. The problem is the state is too cheap to put any time or money into investigating these issues.

Its the Wild Wild West and I guess Highlands needs to start doing some looking around of their own on the basketball court. The problem there lies in the fact that not many people care enough about the program.

I dont disagree with you at all about the face that the situation at Newport sticks out like a sore thumb. It definatily is an eye sore. 60% of the problem lies on the HC. But When you hire a man so he keeps his two sons at the school and allow your assistant to make the substituion so that his own so is geting varsity clock that is a problem. When the freshman class was 7th graders his son was the 7th best Kid on the team. but with some planted implusion his son is now the 2nd best guard in the Freshman Class( Newport has a Freshman guard Last name Fredricks who in my opinion is a better guard the Ethan Snap. Dont get me wrong I love Lil Snaps game too but Fredricks is a better ball handler as well as scorer. Just cant keep things together.

For the longest since lil snap was in the 7th grade he was playing freshman and Jv over kids who was better and in a Higher grade. all this has been manipulated by DAD. pushing everyone esle aside in order for his son to shine. Not the other 6 kids that was better than him but the 7th man on the 7th grade team was moved up it just happen to be the Varsity coaches son.

No offense taken I have a close friend who knows a little bit more of the situation down there.

Same as Highlands Girls team, at least 6 and 3 starters. Don't do there.

Huh? I dont follow ya Mr. Highlands Hater.

Q, I understand your frustration about Newport but in all honesty it is hard to listen to complaining from a Highlands supporter about out of district students. Not that it is a part of the current basketball program at Highlands but in many people's viewpoint it is a part of the Highlands culture, especially in football. Now whether statistics back up that thought that many people have....well..........not sure about that.

I believe it means at least 6 girls are from outside the school district and 3 of those 6 start. Is that really the case?????

Sorry about the do,6 go there from out of District and 3 start. No I don't hate Highlands but don't talk about other Schools when you are the master at it.

Is this anything like the parochial schools giving tuition reductions to those that cannot afford to pay the full tuition like most of the other students that attend those schools. I am so tired of hearing all of this garbage as it goes on at every school in Northern Kentucky and across the state. Do not hide behind the fact that you are a hater, plain and simple. It appears rather obvious that you have been directly impacted by something that has happened at Highlands relative to you or someone close to you.

I did not bring up the Newport kids someone else did from FT. My point was it does happen at other Schools, look at your School before you make a statement like that.

Would it actually happen that a parochial school would show preference to an athletic young man in giving tuition breaks????? Surely parochial schools are about Catholic education first.
