It's as embarrassing as people crying about the President (any President) putting their child in a private school while advocating public education. It's as embarrassing as people crying about a President (any President) taking a vacation or being away fromt he WH.

 

The President's life is completely different from every other Schmo. Most people get that and accept it. Some, NRA, try to play to the "Yeah, why is that guy any different than me" crowd. Sad.

 

What is sad is that anyone would think that methods of protection work differently for different people. Is a building more or less safe with armed personnell protecting it? Many on the left seem to think less for the common man, but not for themselves. Also, I have every right to protect my loved ones with the same means that he uses to protect his. However, it seems that he would like to take that right away from me.

I actually agree and I'm opposed to any stiffer gun control and in favor of armed personnel in schools. Anyone that can't see the difference in the dangers the presidents kids potentially face versus the average citizens kids need to have their head checked. I'm pretty sure I could ride in a convertible down the streets of Dallas with no issues. As we found out the hard way the President cannot.

I have a question. Are private schools in charge of their own security? Could they hire armed security without breaking any laws, or does the government have to be involved in one way or another?

 

If not, I'm curious if we'll see a shift to more armed security in the more upper-class private schools. I know NKY parochial schools couldn't afford it.

Certainly there is a difference, but why shouldn't both situations call for armed personell?

I also know from first hand experience that when it supports their stance the left has no problem with armed guards in schools. In 1975 when busing was instituted in Jefferson County I road a school bus with a state trooper and there were armed national guardsmen in the schools.

You say "in general" is there a condition where you would be OK with having police officers in schools?

There are already armed school resource officers in our public schools. Why are you opposed? What is the concern, and does it supercede the safety of students attending school, and the teachers working in the buildings?

And the "lefties" are the one's who wanted the state trooper? Also, as you well know, the troopers weren't a permanent fixture and neither were the National Guard at the schools. Comparing the reasons needed to that example isn't the same.

Not in all public schools. And I am not convinced having such personnel actually help anything.
