It is always loud in the Eagles Nest. With lots of college coaches and Nick Jackson out matching anything Holmes has to throw at him he could get lots of attention quickly. He is one of the keys in the game.

Was not loud at the Boone game. Saw plenty of high school coaches but must have missed the college coaches that day?

Holmes 58-49

Did someone confirm " lots of college coaches will be at this game"? Because typically college coaches do most of their recruiting on the AAU circuit not so much high school games anymore.

Would be surprised if there were any college coaches in attendence. Majority of recruiting is done on the AAU circuit and other than Bolden not a lot of college prospects in this game.

Look for the matchup between Bolden and Pouncy or Castleman.

No match up here.

Scott does not have anyone who can guard Bolden

And we don't need too... Team game for Scott and team D will make this a lot closer than everyone expects. I hope! First game Bolden didn't smash Scott, he did enough to get the W. Hopefully Scott will play to their expectations set at beginning of the year and come out on top! Pouncy if you're reading this hopefully you have a little more motivation now!

PutMeInCoach, talking more for bolden sake but some of that pressure would rub off on Jackson. Can't say anything for sure until the game begins.

If you try to key on Bolden, Holmes has plenty of other options. That is one of the biggest reasons Holmes is still undefeated. Palmer, Bolden, and Coston is the best 1-3 in the region and I'm not sure It's even close.

Bolden is a big reason for their success, but it is the leadership of Palmer and Englemon that has carried this team.

The light has really come on for Chames lately too. With him playing well, Holmes has 5 legit scorers on the floor. Foul trouble with multiple players is the only way to beat Holmes, IMO.

They have proved throughout the year that they can win playing any tempo.

Ok you have 5 scorers, but defense is what can make the biggest difference in the ball game. The little bit I have seen Felts play for the Eagles he is unguardable and gets either to the front of the rim or will hit the open 3. He doesn't miss the open shot often either. He could be a difference maker in the game Thursday.

Felts is unguardable??? Come on man... Solid player but probably wouldn't even start at Holmes.

Agree he could be a difference maker but let's not get ahead of ourselves with off the wall comments that he is unguardable.

Defense is the biggest difference...you're right. If thats your argument, Holmes is giving up less ppg. (58 for Scott-51 for Holmes)

Hitting open shots will not be the problem, getting open shots will be the problem against Holmes' defense

Game back in December was a 5 pt win for Holmes in Covington. Scott hasn't lost at home. Could home court make up 5 points? This game will also be officiated by 10th region refs where even the worst are much better than the one's from the 9th that did the game last month. Should be fun.

Who will be guarding Felts? Would assume that Bolden would be on a Pouncy or Castleman. If Felts isn't getting to the rim, Jackson could take Engleman 1 on 1. Where did you get your stat on the PPG, not saying you are wrong just would like to see it.

My guess on the match ups:

Bolden v Pouncy

Palmer v Castleman

Coston v Felts

Englemon v ????

Chames v Jackson

Jackson struggled against Chames' length and size in the first match up. A lot of his points came off jumpers against Chames. He scored pretty well down low against Englemon. The only problem was that Englemon was in foul trouble, therefor couldn't be as aggressive or contest shots like he normally does.

I'd be willing to bet you see Jackson matched up with Chames more than Englemon.

PPG, you can go to the KHSAA site and just look at their schedule:

Holmes 19-0

Points for: 1287 (1287 / 19 = 67.7 ppg)

Points against: 985 ( 985 / 19 = 51.8)

Scott 9-7

Points for: 1063 ( 1063 / 16 = 66.4 ppg)

Points against: 926 (926 / 16 = 57.8 ppg)

Outside of giving up 76 to Pendlenton Co, Holmes has scored the 2nd most points in a game on Scott.

Something else to keep an eye on is rebounding. Holmes killed Scott on the boards last time 30-17.
