Bolden is far and away the best of the group and the "star."

 

The second group, you have a lot of kids that are contributing at the varsity level and are huge pieces to their teams' success.

 

The third group is a list of kids that will be good next year and solid role players for their team...Hart will probably lead Ludlow but at a small school it is a lot more common than other schools.

 

One kid that I think could end up being very good that nobody really knows about is Rod Avery at Holmes. He is about 6'3/6'4 and a really good athlete. Just needs to work on the fundamentals of the game and get stronger/more aggressive. The talent is definetly there. He grew a couple inches since last year so he is still trying to adjust to the growth spurt and have the coordination catch up.

Shumate could be playing varsity, he just has a logjam of talent in front of him. And probably should add Junior Stockwell from Boone County. He is contributing for Boone's varsity.

These sophs are certainly good players, but the one thing in common is the sophs almost to a player have to get stronger. That 2 yaear difference in strength and usually experience, makes many seniors better, if you played sophs versus seniors. Take last year for example. Boone County was not the most athletic or skilled team in the 9th, but they were senior laden, experienced, and smart. If they were up in the 4th quarter, they were going to take care of the ball and hit their free throws. That played to their favor. When these sophs are seniors it will be fun to watch.

 

I hear you and agree in principle, but some of these kids we are talking about are just as big as any of the Seniors I've seen up here:

My list was 9th region only. Not as familiar with the entire nky scene. (8th/10th region)

 

I saw Deondre Jackson (Campbell Co) against Dixie. Kid is really good. Had a huge first half against the Colonels but seemed to disappear in the second half. He will definetly be one of the better players in nky his senior year, though.

Englemon had 8 points, 10 rebounds that game...I wouldn't exactly call that lighting him up. And you failed to mention that Chames, Hill, and Englemon all 3 defended Jackson that game. It wasn't like they were matched up one on one the entire game. I seem to remember Englemon sitting a lot in the first half due to foul trouble.

 

Good player, yes, but top 3? Debatable. I'd put the top 3 in nky: Hatton, Campbell, Bolden. All three will be suiting up for a D1 program when they attend college.
