The officiating in the 16th region games that I have watched this season cannot be described as professional. I would probably describe it as a poor effort.

You're right, I haven't but that still doesn't mean that the 16th region officials are awesome - because they're not.

Until any of us stap on the stripes and a whistle and have the pleasure (or misfortune) of calling a highly intense match-up such as Morgan vs Boyd or other contest of the caliber, we have no clue what call we might get wrong or miss all together, remember we sometimes have a better angle than the refs although they are closer to the action. I'm sure that any game of any sport that has ever been played wasn't perfectly officiated so perfection may be a ways off in the future, or maybe we should look at bringing the instant replay into High School basketball!

I think what coach Pratt was upset with is the no call

at the end of the game,when Owens drove to the basket

and got knocked down,and when Moore got the rebound

and was pushed,but IMO that stuff is going to happen

just seems to happen alot with one same ref.But anyway

there is alot of nice people in Morgan,I enjoyed the game

It's kind of getting old that BC never loses a game. Its always the refs fault, or they went to eat 1 hour before the game. Bc is a team that hasnt improved since the first day. They dont play together as a team. Even though they havent improved they still are probably one of the top 3 teams in the region. If they started to play togther then they have a "shot" at winning the region.

Caveman do ya think it is the sound system or the fact that our last two games have been only our second and third home games of the season, and they both were hyped up so much that the crowds for both games were almost standing room only. The Cougar fans were hungry for some home floor action.

Nets, I too would like to see 32 minutes of the cougars at their best. I've said all year they are the most impressive defensive team around. Offensively they have their games, but if they ever bring their offensive game up to their defensive........look out!

Nathaniel played a whale of a game, McCowan and Haney compliment each other quite well around the basket, one always looking to drop the ball down inside to the other. Adkins, Young, Montgomery, and Henderson very tough defensive players.

Good Win for the Cougars! But I don't think the game should have ended that close, not taking anything away from the effort of Boyd County, they never hung their heads at anytime during the game and that's why they were there in the end.

Watch some officiating in the other regions!! But basically officiating is fairly much the same everywhere. You get good and bad calls and even missed calls. The main question is does the refs call it consistent and fair? The Morgan and Boyd game was okay, but Morgan did have a lot more fouls called on them than Boyd. This has nothing to do with the closeness of the game though. The Cougars just didn't play well in the 4th and Boyd played better.

watched? I dont beleave too many,but I do know of one game at

Ashland I beleave.

Even though there was a definitely a questionable no-call at the end of the game, Boyd lost this one in the 2nd qtr when they totally forgot to play defense. It seemed that they were so focused on shutting down Mcgowan, which they did, that they forgot about shutting down the rest of the team and were lit up. But I do give Boyd credit though, they battled back in the 2nd half behind a strong effort of Owens and Justin Moore, and had a chance to win at the end. These teams should meet again at Regionals, but in this region you just never know.

No disgrace to lose at Morgan County, did Mcown get his double/double?

McGowan really was only a factor on the boards, and that really suprised me. He didn't seem to be as aggressive offensively as I would have anticipated. Boyd played him very physical and he seemed to struggle whenever BC put Selby on him since they are about the same size.

An exciting game to say the least. Owens is a great talent and hard to stop. Especially tough when you can get away with palming the ball as much as he does. Gutty effort by Boyd in the second half to get back in the game. What I wasn't impressed with was a couple Lion players cursing and acting childish. Play the game instead of cursing people in the stands.

I believe the fan in the stands cursed the kid 1st, that was really classy for an adult. As for the fouls being called, most were called on kids guarding Owens, and as everyone that has seen him play, he is tough to guard because he is so quick and athletic. He is constantly being held and hacked when he goes to the hoop, most of the times these aren't even being called. Don't really know if the ref is like the rest of us just waiting to see what Owens will do with the ball, or if he is actually looking for a foul.

I believe your wrong in this instance. The kid cursed and stuck out his tongue in a demonstrative manner to a player's mother in the stands after she commented on rough play she perceived against her son. BTW, it wouldn't have made any difference what was said to him. You keep your mouth shut and play basketball. The technical wasn't the only instance of Boyd players cursing on the court and into the stands.

There is a lot of that from many players, but Owens speed makes it hard for the ball to keep up :thumb: Too many players these days do that, that is the Streetball in them.

 

From the games I have watched (4), Owens get more NO-Calls on being fouled, then he gets NO-Calls for Palming the ball :thumb:

 

Once again, I will state, this game result is the worst that could have happened to Morgan. Now those players know that WE CAN compete with them, with the good possibility of winning.

I disagree with that statement. I'm sure that Morgan Co., as well as Fairview, Russell, Ashland and the rest of the 16th, KNOW that on a given night that Boyd Co. can beat them! I don't think that anyone in the 16th will ever be overconfident when facing Boyd Co. this season! In fact, by having Boyd come back and almost win, I think that Morgan will know that they will have to play harder next time. Had they blown out Boyd by 12 as at the end of the 3rd, they might have had a tendency to be a little more overconfident next time.
