SVG: You Can't Build Around John Wall

Featured Replies

Agreed. That was his major weakness at UK, and from the past two seasons in the NBA it doesn't appear that he's really improved on it much.

Not fair. He's been hurt all season. We have nothing current to judge him on.

At first glance, I don't disagree.

But how would Derrick Rose rank in decision making? I thought he & Wall had similar games, but I don't watch as much NBA when it doesn't involve the UK guys.

I have always thought that Wall's athleticism is his greatest strength & liability. If that makes sense.

There is a pretty big gap between the two.

^ Comparing the two as they came into the league, was there a significant gap? Or has that gap widened since coming into the NBA?

Close in college but the gap has widened in the NBA.

His biggest weakness is his jumper. He can't shoot. I'd say this is a fair assessment of the Wizards. Rose is a much better scorer IMO.

You could argue Wall is the better passer amongst the two and Rose is a better scorer. Wall averages more assists per game than Rose. Wall has much less to work with also.

I don't know if I disagree with Stan Van Gundy, but I feel like Chicago has done a much better job surrounding Rose with talent than Washington has done with Wall. I wish Wall could have gone to a stable organization with good management or at least a team with a viable plan. We will find out what John Wall is once he gets out of Washington; if he can ever get out of Washington.

It's tough to criticize Wall this year because he hasn't been healthy. Most people realized that he would need a couple seasons to adjust to the NBA, especially without much talent around him.

Obviously Rose had a better rookie campaign than John Wall. Chicago had a 1.7% chance of getting the #1 overall draft pick and was lucky enough to do so. It's the 2nd lowest % EVER to get the #1 pick and lowest since the lottery was modified in 1994.

It's a poisonous atmosphere in Washington. SVG should know this and give Wall some time to grow and hopefully get in a better situation. Wall is better than Jameer Nelson.

Just looking at numbers Wall and Rose and virtually identical rookie seasons. Wall did not improve (numbers wise) in his second season. Then again I am not sure I want to have to rely upon my PG to score 25 PPG like Rose is. That is not usually the recipe for winning a title.
