Ballard tops boys’ Cantrall ratings

Ballard, which was rated No. 1 in the pre-season boys’ basketball polls, has the top spot in Dave Cantrall’s first power ratings of the season.

The Bruins, who finished second in the King of the Bluegrass and won a holiday tournament in Florida, are ranked ahead of No. 2 (and defending state champ) Trinity, No. 3 Bullitt East and No. 4 Henry Clay. (Cantrall’s ratings were computed before the finals of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic in which Henry Clay beat Lexington Catholic).

Fairdale is too high, Madison Central is too low.

 

I think the first 4 are your top 4 teams in the state though.

Southwestern is way too high.

 

Henry Clay should be no worse than 3rd. They beat Trinity and many other ranked teams as well. Knott Central too low, CovCath and Newport Central too high.

Thought Madison Central would be a little higher with losses to Top 5 Nationally ranked Travis Tx.(7 pts, away), #1 Ballard (2 points,away), and a split with #3 Bullitt East (6 point win and 6 point loss, both away) along with quality wins such as#6 Fairdale, #13 Montgomery Co., #15 Collins, and #19 St X all on the road.

Good to see Covcath, Holmes, and Newcath get exposure and recognition but Covcath is not a top ten team.

He posted it on his blog, but the ratings are computer by Dave Cantrall (or at least his formula) and contributed to the Herald-Leader. Fields has nothing to do with it.
