December 18, 201213 yr UC is announcing the Nippert renovations tomorrow at 2pm in a presser. Just saw a pic of what it will look like in a north end zone above view....WOW is all I can say. Can't wait to see more. Looks like it will expand the seating capacity to around 40-45k.
December 18, 201213 yr Is UC saying the funds are there to do it now? Or are they saying "here's our plans ONCE we raise the money?"

December 18, 201213 yr Author Objective observation.... When you can't sell out 30k, why add 10k more? With the way the new stadium will be set up and being in a new conference down the road, selling out 40k isn't that hard.
December 18, 201213 yr With the way the new stadium will be set up and being in a new conference down the road, selling out 40k isn't that hard. I like optimism but .... My guess is expanding is being done to make UC more attractive to a conference, correct? It's not because they think next year is going to have seats filled, right?

It's not because they think next year is going to have seats filled, right? Correct but there is a lot of excitement surrounding the program right now with the hiring of Tubberville and not to mention they should be very good with what they return. They will be loaded on both sides of the ball.
December 18, 201213 yr Objective observation.... When you can't sell out 30k, why add 10k more? Tulane brings a big crowd. Just kidding, UC folks. In all seriousness, I LOVE watching games at Nippert Stadium. I'm anxious to see the plans, but I'm also a little nervous. Nippert is quaint and cozy and I'm afraid much change might take that away. I hope they do it nice, while keeping its feel.
December 18, 201213 yr Objective observation.... When you can't sell out 30k, why add 10k more? I agree - historically UC has never been able to draw consistent crowds from year to year, so why in the world would they think they can do it now? I understand Tommy T bringing some excitement, but how long does anyone expect him to be at UC? Also - is a 40K seat stadium really that more attractive to a conference, than a 30K seat stadium? Personally I do not see it. I would think that a jump to 70 or 80K seats is what would be needed to do that.
December 18, 201213 yr Is UC saying the funds are there to do it now? Or are they saying "here's our plans ONCE we raise the money?" Have been told there is a nice chunk of it already raised, but not sure the exact number. Guessing we will find that out today...

The problem is that Nippert has no luxury or club type seating to generate larger chunks of revenue. The bulk of this project will be addressing that issue...
December 18, 201213 yr UC needs a new pressbox and Suites as the addition. (I havent seen the propsal) That is one of the major things Nippert has lacked.

December 18, 201213 yr Author Wasn't going to post this because of where I originally saw it but since I have seen it surfacing other places.....
