Back when McNabb was with the Eagles he got fired from Sunday Countdown for saying that people wanted McNabb to succeed because they wanted a black QB to be successful.

 

He was right. I wouldn't have fired him. McNabb ruined himself when he admitted publicly he didn't know a team could tie. More proof that ESPN sucks.

Because I only pay attention to the NFL games and not the stupidity that reigns before and after the games. End of the day those dudes know what I know about what is going to happen on the field..........nothing. Those shows are a waste of time and energy.

And I agree Parker shouldn't be fired, but neither should Limbaugh or Don Imus have been for their comments. If you do to one, you gotta do to the other right?

89% of black people do. Comes with the territory. Now black people can't even speak honestly about black people without getting suspended. Awesome. Progress in action.

I agree, but I believe Parker is beyond that.

 

The suspension was a reaction to the public, just like the Limbaugh one. But the pressure to make Limbaugh leave was much greater since Limbaugh was white, McNabb black, when I do not think either statement is incorrect or one worse than the other necessarily.

I'm just glad the guy saying all this stuff about RGIII was black himself. Could you imagine the uproar if it had been a white guy?! Shockingly enough, Stephen Smith didn't give his usual response...

I blame the ESPN culture and what they have created. They want to put on these provocateurs that will dabble in race then act surprised (public included) when they make these statements. People are always looking for a reason to be offended over remarks that mean little to nothing.

If they weren't doing just fine right now I'd agree. Limbaugh and Imus didn't skip a beat and Sunday Countdown was a hobby for Limbaugh. Let's not act like he was homeless until he had another gig. If not for his baggage and agenda he probably would have gotten suspended like Parker. Imus is just an idiot but he's good to go now also. Parker will be fine also but he'll never be on the level of Imus or Limbaugh. Let's not kid ourselves.

Each decision has to be independent and based solely on the impact on the business.

Stephen A. Smith speaks more to the culture and vibe of black people than Parker does. If folsk could get past Smith's schtick they would realize he does drop jewels from time to time. Ultimately I blame Stephen A. for his perceived persona but he had to act like that to get air time. Obviously. Otherwise Chip Cosby would be on the national scene and not just regional.

I don't think that it was calling him a "Cornball Brother" that got him in trouble, but it was when he expounded on the idea that he came off like a racist and a jerk.

I'm not gonna say what can or cannot be said in the black community, but I thought he was out of line. Who is he to question the authenticity of RGIII as a blackman, why does he have to "Tow a line" the way Parker thinks he should. RGIII is his own man just as you are and I am, why does he have to conform to "Parkers view of a Black man"
