Brossart played well. Both teams played hard.

Brossart showed a lot of maturity and poise in handling 32 minutes of pressure. Saunders had ten points in the first quarter as the Mustangs sprinted out to a 20-0 lead in the first period and a 20-2 advantage after 8 minutes and cruised from there to the 62-40 win.

Mustangs play back-to-back 10th Region opponents next Wednesday vs Bracken County in Brooksville and at home on Thursday vs St. Patrick

I always thought a "nice" early season win was over an equal or better team, is Iroquois on par with the Mustangs? Just asking.

Preseason ranked 9th in the 6th region. So I would say no.

In the early goings while the Mustangs played like a well oiled machine taking a 1st period advantage 22-2, they forced turnover after turnover, steal after steal hardly allowing Iroquois to ever get off a shot. Thereafter, I wouldn't say that they continued to play to the best of their ability because the final score is telling that the rest of the game they pretty much matched each other with Brossart winning period 2, 3, & 4 (40-38). Their lead obviously allowed the use of their bench which played a large factor as well, and Iroquois continued to display die hard hustle play throughout. Ultimately Brossart was a much better team, but gotta hand it to Iroquois for not throwing in the towel after going against the such great odds of being spanked so hard in early part of the game.

I wouldn't say they are on par with the Mustangs. It was clear early on this was going to be a blowout. It was basically over after the first 5 minutes. Iroquois literally couldn't run a play because of the Brossart defense in the 1st quarter.

I've heard Saunders has been playing very well for the Mustangs this year.

Can't wait to see them play. Solid group of players.
