He then told all at the meeting that if NKYFL didn't let NFF juniors in playoffs than he would pull all other divisions. The Misget and Senior squads were not sanctioned . They were pulled by their teams rep. I know this first hand.

 

Spot on description, and it's pretty convenient how this part of the story has not gotten out and is not being reported on. There also have been sportsmanship issues with Newport at various times throughout the season, specifically the Junior team. One team even pulled their team from the field due to fearing for their kids safety.

 

I know one of Newport's arguments is that every team has "illegal" kids playing for them. However, there is a waiver system to grant out of territory kids the right to play in another organization, and those waivers are fairly easy to get. Newport apparently chose to circumvent the waiver process, hence this whole clusterscrew.

 

Another case of the NKYFL worried more about winning than developing kids.

Very sad situation but I can't say I am all that surprised after watching this incident play out.

1) How where the parents and other coaches supposed to know about the change in the scheduling of the playoffs? What hurt did that do?

 

2) Why not just ban the coach? Tell him he can't coach for 5 years, I am sure that will get his attention, and the reason of the Newport program. This way it won't hurt the kids.

This issue is strong rational for moving youth towards middle school leagues and away from the private leagues. Middle school coaches are usually teachers or other school staff are almost always background checked, and have lots of first aide and other relevant emergency response training.

Who is the league VP? I know who the AD is at Newport these days, and I'd be surprised to hear she is the league VP too.

If memory serves me correctly, there are people involved w the FF who are involved w the American Legion knothole teams as in they coach both. If I am remembering that correctly, then nothing surprises me.

I heard 2 of the 4 teams had ineligible players. They were given numerous warnings and suspensions during the year, but ignored them. NKYFL then disqualified all teams. After a meeting, NKYFL allowed the 2 teams without any infractions to play, but Newport said it's all or none.

Ok! It looks like the ref. If it is, how in the world is he able to be a ref if it was him and if he was convicted?

 

Those were all 2004 so they probably out of the window they care about. It must be hard to get refs in the area. I guess we can see why. Without a doubt, the guy had a rough 2004.
