IMO they should have called forward progress anyway. That was the type of call that was going to stand on whatever they called.

Runner was on top of bodies never touched the ground and reached the ball across the line...but replay said no TD...game ND.

How does NBC not have a camera right on the goal line? Camera from right of the play was 5 yards deep in the endzone and gave a poor angle at best.

Hmmn does it favor NBC for ND to keep winning??? Just saying...

ND shut them down he didn't cross the plain!

Stanford got hosed IMO.

Disagree on that. Usually in those situations the whistle is blown when they guy is completely stood up and not making progress with his back turn. He only was able to start going forward when the Notre Dame players started letting go and started to celebrate. Which apparently the ruling on the field was also that his forward progress was stopped, and that is why it stood under replay and why they said play stands as called.

He definitely crossed the plain, but his forward progress was stopped until Notre Dame started letting go and celebrating that was when he leaned in and put the ball in.

His forward progress was stopped, that is why he didn't get the touchdown. He only started going forward once Notre Dame players started to let go to celebrate.

Whistle was not blown therefore refs didn't not think he had been stopped.

He broke plain on 2 down not on 4th.

Bad play calling in OT by Stanford

A ref only starts running in when they view the play as being over. Watch the ref, he starts running in when Notre Dame has the guys momentum stopped and his backed turned. You see it all the time in games when a defense has a guy piled up and driving him backwards, the ref starts running in and all of a sudden the guy breaks out of it and they blow the whistle then saying his forward progress was stopped. Your right the whistle was not blown, but when the ref starts running in that is when they view a play is over. If you see the replay you see him running in at that time, because he viewed as it as forward progress stopped. Then the Stanford guy finally started going forward once Notre Dame started to let go.

Could be that's what happened, if so it was because the whistle was blown which it should not have been. He was never wrapped up and continued to move on top of the others, Refs should not have blown it dead at that juncture of the game, if that is what happened.

IMO...but I'm not a ND fan. Guessing ALL ND fans thought that it was a fine call...

He broke plain on 2 down not on 4th.

He did not, in the replay you clearly see his knee down before the ball even comes that close to crossing teh plain.

I assume ESPN probably got the actual details about what they were looking for in the replay. Which according to this statement, they were looking to see when this forward progress was initially stopped.

The final play even went to review to determine when Taylor's forward progress was stopped. The call on the field was upheld. It was high drama until the very end.
