Ok I'm going to throw it out there. This is just my opinion. While I'm certainly not saying Williamstown will compete for the Region. I do think they will beat several of the teams on this top ten list.

IMO:I don't see them winning a game in their district, and probably no one in the top ten. They just don't have the talent to compete against these teams.

I know it's kind of out there but I think some will be surprised with Williamstown this year. Simply based on what I have seen over the summer I think they will be much improved. They will be very young but very talented.

This is not any kind of comparison or prediction, just something I am wondering in print. I wonder how the role of a former power school in the 8th region might change in the upcoming season. Who? The answer is Oldham County. With a regime change last season just before tourney play and an interim coach for the tourney, plus a new hire from out of state over the summer, might the Lady Colonels be on track to bounce back and become more competitive in 2012-13?

I will speculate that at the very minimum there will be renewed enthusiasm in Buckner and throughout the program, but how that is manifested on the court remains to be seen. Still, look for them to be more competitive than the past few years.

I totally agree. I know that there is new enthusiasm in the program and that returning players like McMurtrey will be in much better spirits this year. That should translate into better play. That program went through a lot last year and I know they are happy to have that chapter behind them and to be able to get back to just playing basketball.

Jessica Leanhart returns this year after quitting mid season last year.

Thanks for that update. That is very good news for Oldham!!
Did Owen Co. get a new transfer from Magoffin Co.?
Yes Madison Reed.

I must say that I am curious as to how players have moved up and down the list since the end of last season. I dont believe that High school coaches go around to AAU tournaments all summer watching these girls to evaluate them before they vote on this. And as I do believe this is a better rendition than previous years, you still have someone compiling this list who has never seen many of the players play. Just curious....

Yes Madison Reed.

Can you give us some information about her? Is she going to help Owen? I'm not familiar with her.

Yeah I've watched her play several times. Just to give you a idea she was a honorable mention as a sophomoe in the Herald (All Star Team List at the end of the year) I also saw her drop 20 on Owensboro Catholic in the All A last year. Shes a guard that can take you off the dribble she has a better than average outside shot and a good defender. She may very well be the most talanted player on Owen's current roster.

Unfortunately for Owen she's not a point guard.
