Sad that the final outcome was impacted by a bogus cut block call on the first play of overtime and then on the second play of overtime a blatant horse collar is not called. Did it cause Highlands to lose the game, NO. There is no reason that you should lose a game when you have a team 4th and 7 near midfield with less than two minutes to go in the game and they have no timeouts and you let them tell you who is going to run the ball and where and you do not make a play. Need to get your best 11 on the field at that point in the game in my opinion. Before we anoint the Raiders as a special team, lets not forget that at no point did they have the lead in this game except at the end. Except for the Highlands supporters on this site, there were few that gave them a chance in this game and yet they took it to the Raiders from the outset. This group from Highlands is every bit as good as Ryle and Beechwood and we will see over the next few years just how good they are. Before everyone wants to say that Beechwood handled them, I will tell you now that if they were to play again it would be much like last nights game especially if they have everyone healthy. Congrats to both teams on a well played game and it would appear that everyone game out of the game in good shape healthwise.

Both teams played well. HHS had very good games from Austin Hergot and Nick Kendall on offense, The defense played solid ball but England is just a stud.

You have now lost two games and I'm guessing we will get to see how Beechwood plays against Ryle. I doubt Beechwood will lose, but you never know. I do know that they already played Highlands and beat them soundly. Yes, the Birds had injuries. All teams do at some point during the season. Champions play beyond it and don't make excuses. I will say, I think you are the only one making excuses.

I bring it up because it happened and did affect the "Outcome" of the game plain and simple. I also said that it should not have gotten to the point where this game went into overtime. Beechwood did defeat HHS soundly the first time around and I did not make any excuses about that game nor did I make any about last nights game or any of the other 8 games they have played. Show me where I have because I would love to read it. Rather I feel that this "team" has grown leaps and bounds the last month and IMO the game would have come down to the wire and either team could have a chance to win just like last nights game. The sun did come up today and life will go on and the Baby Birds will play two more games and then many I am sure will move up to the Varsity and enjoy being a part of the run through the playoffs and hopefully a state championship.

You are incorrect. The cut block happened, and the tackle was not a horse collar. The Ryle player tackled him by the back of his jersey only, not the back of his shoulder pads. By rule, you are allowed to tackle by the top of the back of the jersey, as long as you don't have the shoulder pads, which the Ryle player didn't.

Again you have your opinion and I have mine. I would not doubt that a Ryle fan would see it just as you described it and if things were the other way around a Highlands fan would feel the same way. Either way, Highlands should not have allowed the game to get to that point in the first place.
