February 11, 201313 yr Author The S1 cast is really thin and the S2 cast isn't much better. I think if they start killing off many more original members they will risk losing fans. I think they will continue to bring in new cast members, like the Tyreese crew, to have someone to kill off. Possible, but I also think that's what makes the show appealing to so many. Every character is equally vulnerable. I'm not sure if there has ever been a long-running TV series that has been like that. I don't think many fans would leave the show just because the cast was killed off as long as the show still has quality writing.

February 11, 201313 yr I hate to keep referring back to the comics but not much of the original characters in it are still left, it's just part of it. I thought last night was a solid episode but still lower in terms of Walking Dead standards. Season 3 has been one non stop action suspenseful show, to have the slower episode kind of scaled things back a bit. Now, as I've already said I wasn't a fan of the Rick take back even though it's only been about a week or two and he really hasn't had time to grieve and I'm sure it's realistic for him to be in that state. I do have some gripes with Rick's character though. - He's becoming unlikable IMO - As mentioned last night he begged to stay at the farm, as strangers with guns, but won't trust Tyreese or Michonne. - Progress of his character seems to have stopped completely.

I'm not sure any show has survived a replacement of most or all of the original cast. Even if the writing is still good it becomes hard for fans to stick with it when the reason they became a fan is gone. Not saying it can't work but would be basically the first.
