The highly anticipated matchup is finally here as defending state champion Bowling Green travels across town to take on Warren Central. The Purples enter the game on a 22 game winning streak, which includes two blowout victories over the Dragons last season by scores of 21-0 and 52-19. Warren Central for their part has won 18 straight against opponents other than Bowling Green. Both teams are 7-0 coming into the game for the second straight year.

The Dragons have put together an impressive 2012 campaign so far with their marquee win coming in the season opener in a 42-28 decision over Mayfield. But much like last year, the Dragons have lived in the shadow of their crosstown rival as the Purples have marched through an impressive schedule that includes a victory over St. X for the second straight year. Although it is not verbalized a lot, the vibe seems to be less a question of who will win, but how much Bowling Green will win by. What say you?

Really, this big of game and I hear crickets...???? What is the contrast in their style of play, who could be the "difference -maker", what does WC have to do to pull an upset, what is my best option at the concession stand........give me something !:jump:

I think BGreen wins this one in a 7-10 point game.. I'll say 31-21.. WCentral will have to mix the pass and run and be effective with both to have any shot.. They have a couple of big receivers who could definately cause some matchup problems for BGreen and they have some strong runners, but, I don't think that veer or whatever they call it, will be that effective against BG unless they can loosen there front up with some successful passing.. BGs DL is too fundamentally sound to get fooled with all that misdirection, so, they'll just play straight up in there gaps and make plays when it comes there way..

There is no contrast, instead mirror-images really.

BG- 17

WC-10

WC's failure to stop the pass will do them in. MUST CONTROL THE CLOCK!

The St. X game earlier this year was the first time Bowling Green had given up 21 points or more since October of 2010, and those are the only two times since the end of 2009. It's rare. In this series, when Central has scored more than 15, they tend to do well, going 11-3 in those games. But that doesn't happen much. Bowling Green is a far more successful 28-1 when holding Central to 14 or less.

So if Central can score 21, then it means they're moving the ball well, which is going to be the key to their winning. If you told me they could score that much, I'd have to take my chances, because it is far, far better than the alternative.

It isn't verbalized because it isn't true. This is 2 very good teams and it isn't a given in any way for the Purples. Warren Central returns many starters from last years team, and if not for BG shocking St X, would be ranked ahead of them. Again, it is well documented what a senior dominated team BG was last year and returned only 4 starters (3 offense/1 Defense) in 2012. The Dragons have more experience, homefield advantage, all senior offensive line, 3 year starting QB, and a ton of motivation.

I'll also disagree with BBJ. These 2 have very contrasting styles in what they try to get done on both sides of the ball. The kicking game could play a huge factor in this game. I'll be a homer and take the Purples 24-20, but this is a game that can go either way.

Unless something has changed since I left Bowling Green two years ago, I'm pretty sure BG shuts the run down better than anyone. With Central not lagging too far behind. As for the offense yeah BG throws a lot more than usual, but WC has increased their pass attempts this year too, though slightly. The bread and butter of these two teams will always and forever will be the run. However, one team has the second most talented WR in the state, and the other team has two 6' 3" giants to throw to. This calls for a slight shift in offensive philosophies in order to adjust to the current personnel, but these offenses are run first.
