nees1212 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 That area is growing so quickly. They'll have plenty of players to field a team year-in and year-out in the next few year.
Sandman32 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Are they a city school or a Boone County school? I can't remember for sure. They've always been so proud of their BaseBall and Basketball that I'm kinda surprised they are finally getting football. All the new blood out there must have changed the old guards position on the subject.
CatFanatic Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 They are an idependent school. They have talked about htis since I was in school there, too many years ago to count.

JOHNDUNHOFT Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 From what I hear last nite at a meeting Walton Verona will start a 7th and 8th grade football program this year. They are to gradually grow into freshman, JV and Varsity ball eventually. They have a super guy that is starting this up Bill Boyle. I wish them well and long time in comming. I also heard if this is a rumor or not I am not sure the BKPWFL will be phasing out their Senior Level of football in the next two years. Again I have not been able to figure this one out. JD

True, but their was a good portion of the school administration years ago that was adamantly opposed to football. I guess times change and people do too. I'm glad there getting a team. They should be a little ahead of Grant and Pendleton when they start up as kids from that area are close enough to the other BC schools to benefit from the peewee program in the BCPWFL already. What class will they be?
CatFanatic Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 From what I am hearing from board members, they have not decided if the will recommend the Boone County PeeWee League, or if they will run a "school" program and compete with Grant, Gallatin, Owen adn Pendleton. I, personally would like to see the kids involved in the BCPWFL, if for nothing more than the competition level.
Sandman32 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The KHSAA says they have 327 kids if I read it right. That's less than I would have thought, but if it's right it will but them in 1A I believe.

They can recommend BCPWFL but there is no way the league would let them in.The league is not a school or district based league.Kids are literally drafted when they move up from one division to another, like going from college to the NFL.This is done to even out the talent of all the teams on a continous basis.I think there are about 10-15 7th and 8th graders fro WV in the BCPWFL so it will help the league because it is busting at the seams.I wish them well and hope Boone County schools will follow suit in the real near future.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post. I lieu of their players going into the BCPWFL draft, they may form a school team to play with those others I mentioned. I did not mean to imply that WV was putting a team in the BC league. I just realized how awkward it looked to see Walton Verona's name in the football forum.
