Football in Walton-Verona Future?

Featured Replies

would be interesting to see Walton getting a program started, think it'd help the area grow some as well. Yet it would be hard with that few numbers in this area I'd think, definitely going to need a feeder system.

1 or 2A is a great place for a new program in this area. It's much tuffer for a team to startup a program when you are immediately expected to compete with 3A and 4A in NKY. It's actually a blessing to be in 1 or 2A for Walton Verona. Just my opinion.

Yes, 1A is where they would be. While it will be better than, say 3 or 4A, they will still take it on the chin for a while with the 1A powers in this area. Hopefully, they can build a nice program over time.

True but after them, there is a real chance at getting a three or four seed fairly quickly. I would hate to be in Grant countys spot, but they will grow thru it, and have gotten better.

From what I hear last nite at a meeting Walton Verona will start a 7th and 8th grade football program this year. They are to gradually grow into freshman, JV and Varsity ball eventually. They have a super guy that is starting this up Bill Boyle. I wish them well and long time in comming.

This is great news! My nephew/Godson is a 2nd grader at WV.

So maybe you can change that username to Catsfan in the near future. ;)

I would -- trust me! :thumb:

He's already playing baseball and basketball. They've been kind of holding back on football so far.

I think WV would do well competing in 1A locally.

I hope so. I went to school there, my kids go to Gallatin County, though.

That is awesome news. I will, if still living will make sure to catch a varsity game when that time rolls around.

Good luck to all of the first year players.

If you are not one that wins a starting job don’t let it get you down, because you are still really young and if you work as hard as possible you still will have a chance to start or make a big splash when you get in the game.
