Touré Neblett, a co-host of The Cycle on MSNBC, is garnering criticism from pro-life advocates today after sending out a re-tweet on Twitter encouraging women to get abortions in case Mitt Romney defeats President Barack Obama in November.

 

“Girls, get your abortions NOW in case the Republicans win,” the re-tweeted message said.

I'm not defending Toure or his re-tweet but I think this is one of those instances where tone is lost in the written word. I follow him and while I missed this tweet of his knowing his tweets and how he tweets I would have read this and laughed. I have a hard time believing this statement should be taken as a serious statement on his behalf. I could be wrong but I don't think it was meant the way it reads or sounds.

That goes for those who believe there should be a rape/incest exception.

Yea, I read it as a poor attempt at sarcasm - read literally it would mean women should purposefully get pregnant before November so they can get a couple of abortions, which is nonsensical. With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if that irony was lost on Toure as well. I find him to be pretty dim.

Yeah, his tweet brought a whole lot of comments. One person told him I wish your mom would have had an abortion. He brought it on himself with his tweet IMO. You say something that can be deemed crazy or offensive and the crazies will light you up on twitter.
