16th Region Poll 1/8/06

Featured Replies

I have admitted that Ashland has a tough schedule. I also admit they have talent. They are just not winning games. At what point does that come into consideration?

Uncle Jed -

Surely you can't ignore the strength of Ashland's schedule? I agree with where Cubster has them. You might make an argument between them and Russell, but at this point, they don't deserve to be any higher.

On the other hand, they are playing teams that are (as many on this board have admitted) would be clear favorites to win the 16th.

In all honesty, if you think Elliott should be ahead of Ashland at this point, I don't think anyone could argue too hard against that. These "polls" are just opinions, and yours is as valid as anyone else's.

I have to agree with the majority on here though - Ashland and Russell will both be a tough out for whomever they play come tourny time. Be that in the district or the regional.

Sorry about that - I was typing while you posted this one.

If Ashland were 13-0 against very weak teams, would you rank them higher? I think the truth is somewhere in between.

Let me ask you this - what do you think Elliott's record would be at this point, if they had played Ashland's schedule?

Frances

I think we are all in agreement here. I know this poll means nothing except for entertainment. I just thought since it is done weakly it should reflect the teams and the way they are currently playing.

LOL - if I didn't know better, I'd swear that you meant to misspell that intentionally. ;)

Elliott lost by 18 to a team with a losing record.

No Francis I'm just not too bright. I type faster than my brain works.

1. Morgan-Still unbeaten in region

2. Fairview-Playing extremely well

3. Boyd-Still a threat with Owens

4. Russell-a full team would be nice for the Devils

5. Ashland-Still a region threat

6. West-Jones might be region MVP

7. Elliott-Dow Jones team up and down

8. Greenup-Long layoff for Muskies

9. Rowan-Hard team to figure

10. Raceland-Hard fought win over Lewis

11. East-Trying to regroup

12. Fleming-Nice win over Rowan

13. Rose Hill-Potential spoiler this year

14. Lewis-Lions now up to 4 wins

15. Menifee-Cats still struggling

16. Bath-Battle of the Wildcats in the cellar

Have at it boys.

I dont think the Fairview Eagles havent beaten Boyd yet, but I notice you have flip-flopped them. Dont sell the County out yet. :thumb:

Who in turn lost to a team with a worse record. Records dont mean squat anymore. Top 10 or 12 in region can beat the other any given night.

LOL - I don't think your intelligence is in question. We've all "fatfingered" the keyboard a few times. :thumb:

I really thought it was a pretty good joke.

I respect the fact that cubster is even willing to attempt to rank the 16th region. This is a year when there is no clear cut favorite(s) and a year when just about anybody can beat anybody.

I, of course, have seen Rose Hill play more than any other team in the region and they are 13th in cubster's poll, which is fair, and they are capable of beating anyone in front of them.

So there are several place where teams could be flip floped a notch or two but overall I think the cubsters rankings are pretty accurate.

I think the poll is as good as anybody could place these teams. Elliott is very hard to rank. They and a couple of others could beat any team in the region and could lose to any team in the region. I would hate to have to rank this region if my job depended on it.

Looks good to me.

By beating Breathitt Friday night I hope we've gotten past the curse of the teams starting with a B. :D

Caveman,

The Cougars beat Breathitt on Saturday afternoon....get out of your CAVE! :D:D
