Every deal offered to Orlando was better than the one they took for Howard. Bynum or Gasol straight for Howard is far better than they got. How did they have by far the best asset and end up by far the worst off in the trade while making LA and Philly way way better? How did they not dump the Hedu contract in this deal?

The Orlando front office obviously screwed this up big time. They had several trades they turned down that were better than this. They weren't on the table anymore for whatever reason. The Lakers played it right from the get go and didn't give into Orlando and it worked out. Orlando is using the OKC method. Tank and hope to find a Durant in the draft. Better than taking Bynum or Gasol and being a middle of the road team for 5 years and getting crappy draft picks. NBA GMs make terrible trades all the time. Veto of the CP3 trade turned out to be a blessing.
August 10, 201214 yr Those who thought the Harrington/D12 for Pau and Bynum was good for the Lakeshow...wait till they don't give up Pau at all. Count me in that group. But, only from the perspective that I stated. It would have given them a young franchise superstar center to carry the torch and build around for the future and attract marquee free agents. But, as a Laker fan, I love it. Got the best of both worlds.

Is David Stern a prophet? The veto made no sense to me when it happened and I think New Orleans got a worse deal in the trade that was allowed. Yet, it turned into gold with Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers in the draft and I believe I heard that they signed Eric Gordon. The Clippers got Paul to pair with Griffin and are now a player in the west. Now, the Lakers end up signing Nash and landing Dwight without losing Pau. I think Stern is a greenseer. Incredible. In one deft move, he's allowed three franchises to strike gold. Pau is a lucky charm I think. The Lakers got him in a great deal (although not quite as bad as some make it out to be) and now they manage to keep him out of this trade.

I thought he was wrong to veto the trade last year, just like it would have been wrong if he had did that with this trade. However to let this trade go through after not letting last years go through doesnt make much sense. Very inconsistent. For me I like seeing the teams getting formed with all these all stars. I don't care for the regular season anyways, so it just make the playoffs more exciting for me watching really great teams play each other.

I could be wrong but I swear I heard that no one can sign him for the money that the Lakers will be able to when he becomes a free agent. 30-40 million more than anyone else. If that's true he'll be in LA the rest of his career. Not a doubt in my mind.
