First basemen require much larger offensive stats. Hernandez and Garvey both aren't HOF IMO. Again, 3b is a different. That's traditionally been how voting goes. One thing is for sure, the next few years with the 'roiders, and guys like Rolen make it interesting.

I think so too.

I don't know.....he may be a top 5 third baseman of all time. Right now, he's 4th in RBI's, and 4th in HR's, and he might be third by years end. Throw in 8 gold gloves, and he stacks up very well. It's amazing how few third basemen are in the Hall.

That's an eye opener. I had no idea he was 4th in those categories. Knew about the gold gloves. It's more of an argument then I gave much thought too.

akw ... where are you pulling your numbers? I went on MLB stats and this is where Rolen ranks among 3B on their list (FYI - I am not including A Rod):

RBI - 11th

HR's - 15th

Runs - 12th

Hits - 22nd

He's probably got stats for active 3b I would assume.

I'm talking about third basemen in the hall of fame.

OK. You did just said top all time in your post.

When I look at Ron Santo I see a careeer very similar to Rolen. He is ahead of Rolen in some key categories and Rolen is ahead of him. Santo was not elected to the Hall. He was voted in by the veterans committee.
