August 3, 201214 yr And obviously I cannot relate since I am not black. But from my perspective we are never going to get anywhere with racial divides and tolerance if people search for ways to be offended at everything. I agree. Obviously NBC is the target, but the responses to this says a lot about the people who claim to be offended. And, of the offended, I suspect there are two groups...some uber-sensitive people who are truly offended and those who are looking to be offended so they can fire up the band once more.
August 3, 201214 yr This was shown several times before late last night. Bad timing was just a coincidence...but then again I'm a privelaged white male. Exactly, be a whole different story if they'd decided to debut the commercial at that exact moment. Surprised I missed it though, I was watching the event when it aired last night but don't even remember seeing that commercial. I personally like the skeleton on the Pommel Horse more. August 3, 201214 yr I will let Clyde answer for himself, but I agree with Clyde that I would have a different response if it were Fox News. In my case, that is because I see Fox News as having a very clear agenda they are promoting in all they do. That is from an impartial observer. I also would say MSNBC has a clear agenda. What agenda would they have that would make you look at this situation differently?

August 4, 201214 yr As has already been stated, I think this is totally a matter of pure coincidence. And here's why. There is a seperate department that is responsible for coming up with the commercial schedule. They know how many breaks they have to fill, how long they are, and how many are covered by local affiliates. They know who has paid to be in the 8 o'clock hour, or who has paid to be in the 10 o'clock hour. They may also know who has paid to be adjacent to the coverage of a certain event, regardless of when it airs. And I would dare say the bulk of this scheduling is done by a computer program. The guy in master control that's playing the commercials isn't doing it willy nilly. There's a log that he's going by. You couple all of that with the fact that the sports department is going to craft their broadcast seperately. Since everything is tape delayed, they're going to push some of their higher profile events/athletes into the later hours, so that they can tease everybody about the upcoming coverage in their earlier hours. They're trying to figure out how to best use the time they've been allotted, and get all the commercial breaks in. They are NOT concerned with what commercials are scheduled at a given time. In short, I hate to say that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing...but, it'd be pretty close. Therefore, no intent.
August 4, 201214 yr If you can't see the Fox News agenda by now then you never will. They have NEVER been a media organization that searches for the truth or a fair and balanced opinion. They search for ratings and landed to a specific crowd. And they succeed at doing that. I have never felt like I am watching 'news' when watching Fox News.
August 4, 201214 yr And I am not claiming that CNN or MSNBC are any more credible than Fox News. To be honest, Fox News made CNN and MSNBC what they are today. There is no such thing as fair and balanced media anywhere as far as I am concerned. Everybody has a slant it seems.
August 4, 201214 yr I get my political news from BGP. Straight up. Between mountainref, RuntoState, Clizzy, VoR, TB&G, Spin, The MJ Drunks, my VP Randy P, mex, RM, ace, KYtmcc, BGC and many others I figure it all out. Word.

As far as pushing a republican agenda I would agree. What I don't see is the connection to thread topic unless you, Clizzy and VOR are accusing Fox News of being racist? What am I missing?
