I'm amazed at their record considering they have 2 additional guys with as many or more RBI as Joey. If you had told me this would be the case, I'd have assumed they were a good 10-12 games clear of .500 right now.

I understand that, but if you were told that halfway through the season Votto was 3rd on the team in RBI and roughly on pace for 100 RBI for the season, would you not have assumed they would have a better record than the currently do? I think most people would've. Yes. And even more of a reason to think that is they have had the same 5 pitchers start every game.
July 5, 201214 yr Never said he was good but he also got a taste of AA and AAA before going to LA...Hamilton is a much better prospect, a better base stealer, better athlete and has better plate discipline... Without ever seeing what Billy does against AA pitching though it would be hard to say he would be any better than Gordon at the Big League level right now...Long term Billy is a much better prospect and if he could hit .300 and continue his SB success rate at AA for a month I would be willing to say that he could help the Reds more so than what Gordon has LA and more than Stubbs has the Reds...The problem is he hasnt played CF yet...One month of similar success at AA as he has had in A+ and I would be more confident in saying he could probably give the Reds a .250 AVG and a .320 OBP but right now all I can see is Gordon type numbers which arent exactly an upgrade... Hmmm ... A little comparison between Hamilton and Gordon: Gordon, age 21, Midwest League ... .301-3-35 in 538 AB, .362 OBP, .394 SLP, .756 OPS, 73 SB, 25 CS Hamilton, age 20, Midwest League ... .278-3-50 in 550 AB, .340 OBP, .360 SLP, .700 OPS, 103 SB, 20 CS Gordon was a little better, overall, just in terms of raw stats, but a year older negates much (if not all) of that. California League stats are no comparison because Gordon skipped that level to play the next season at Double-A.
July 5, 201214 yr ^ I see your point but that's a little unfair to Hamilton, he's came a long way in the past year. It will be very telling to see how he does when promoted, which looks like it will be this week.
July 5, 201214 yr The Reds absolutely have to improve at the deadline to have a chance. Everyone knows the Cardinals are going to upgrade the rotation and the Pirates went out and made moves last year, so smart money is they do so again this year. The Reds need to address the leadoff spot, and need to add a #2 or #3 starter for the rotation. The Cubs would be the perfect trade partner for both IMO. Go out and get DeJesus and Dempster (assuming he's healthy). DeJesus has a .272/.362/.391 split. That .362 OBP would look great in front of Joey IMO.

They only have about 5 or 6 good ones and a few are untouchable.
