Yes, he is the head coach. Not a good sign for Zeke. I'd be shocked if he returns

I'm not saying that this is true, but this is my conspiracy theory. Could it be that Chizik sees this as an out and a way of freeing up a scholarship on a kid that he may have overvalued early in the recruiting process? With all the issues that SEC coaches face, a public intoxication doesn't seem like a reason to boot a Freshman.

I have no inside info so....

What are the LOI implications for Zeke if he doesn't return?

Remember when Joe Crawford was thinking about transferring during his frosh year there was the issue of how much eligibility he would have left?

I thought Crawford's deal was about gaining his release from UK mid-season & Tubby wouldn't grant it. Crawford still could have left, but would have had to sit out that second semester as well as the entire next year. Had Tubby given it to him, he would have been eligible at mid-season of the next year.

Regardless, I think he still would have had 1/2 of a season plus three more seasons. At least that's how I think it happened.

Oh, Crawford could transfer, but he’d have to pay for the schools investment in him. Smith – or Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart may well be the real villain here – wouldn’t let Crawford out of his National Letter of Intent. So the freshman – who has played twelve career games with the university – would be a junior the next time he plays in a game.

I remember emailing DeCourcy at the time to verify and this is what he said as well.

If he doesn't see game action, he would have had all four years left. I believe that that is how some players can redshirt w/out being officially considered a red shirt. At least that's how one of our QBs did it at Hanover.
