Americas Got Talent Contestant Lies about Injury Suffered in Afghanistan?

Apparently Timothy Poe went on national television and told the judges and everyone who was watching that he has served 14 years in the military and left because he was injured by a RPG in Afghanistan.

 

Now reports are coming out that he is lying. Apparently he did 9 years in the minnesota national guard and served about 1 month in Afghanistan before leaving due to non combat related injuries. Many soldiers he served with are saying he has lied about all his claims of being injured during the war.

He told the judges that he has a stutter due to a brain injury suffered in Afghanistan and that singing helps him with his stutter. Of course everyone ate that up.

 

Also a picture he said was him in afghanistan is apparently not even him.

I don't know why someone would lie about this when milions are watching. I just watched his performance and my wife said "I bet it'll be a Garth Brooks song" and she was right.

Granted, this is the first time I've ever dealt with it, but if I were to make a list of things someone could do that would instantly make me turn on them, lying about combat duty would be near the top of the list.

I felt bad and kind of guilty at the time for thinking so, but I told my wife after he was done that I felt like something was off and he was faking it.

 

Sad to see I was right. Pathetic.

Yea, I am not making excuses for him but I have seen where brain injuries can cause people to act in strange ways. More than likely he got caught up in the lie and now cant turn back.
