Reds at Astros Series 06/01 thru 06/03/12

Bottom line on today's game was that once again this offense proves that they are very inconsistent and young pitchers give them fits. If teams were smart they would call up their top pitcher from AAA and start them versus the Reds. More often than not the Reds will struggle against them.

5 of 8 is vast majority? Cairo wasn't fully healthy when he came back either.

Can Frazier work his way to almost every day while Rolen is out or does his performance not matter because they need to get Cairo going?

You're just making stuff up now. The Reds gave him extra time on the DL to make sure he was fully healthy. He was eligible to come off April 30th and didn't come off until May 7th.

Since May 7th...

Cairo has 28 PA's

Frazier has 76

Vast majority.

While you're at it. How many of those starts for Cairo came on a day after Frazier did something good offensively? I have to believe that Frazier can't be comfortable with his role always looking over his shoulder to see what Dusty has in mind. Can't wait until Rolen comes off the DL. Think he'll go to AAA first? Not a chance if you ask me. If he says he's ready Frazier goes back to the pine and maybe gets sent down.

You can look it up for yourself.

But FWIW, 9 of Cairo's PA's came in a pinch hit role where he just hit then took another seat on the bench.

I'm not sure why you keep bringing that up. I've said Frazier has played the vast majority of the time since May 7th. True or False?

I wouldn't call 10 AB's from a utility guy in Dayton extra time to makesure he was healthy. Duty mentioned the day before he was activated that they needed him to get healthy. Theynwere dying to replace Harris. I stand by my original comment that Frazier can't do anything to stay in the lineup because Dusty wants Cairo to get it going. 5 out of 8 starts to me isn't vast majority.

Still waiting on that defensive replacement explanation. Talk about making something up. It's been the opposite where Frazier finished games.

Cairo was quoted on April 30th saying he felt fine. That's a week extra time to get ready.

Cairo's a better defender than Frazier? That's pretty simple. Frazier came in today on a double switch because Cairo had just made an out the last half inning.

I'm not sure what else I can explain. Why don't you look at the big picture instead of focusing on the past week. Cairo has been back and healthy, whether you want to admit it or not, since May 7th and has only started 5 games in that time.

If I remember correctly Dusty said that Cairo still wasn't totally healthy enough to play the field when he first came off the DL. I like Cairo. He's been very productive for the Reds the past two years. It does seem Dusty has sat Frazier the very next day after he's homered the previous game though. LOL

I've looked through all of Fay's old posts and havent seen anything like that.

This was quoted on Fay's blog on 5/1/12. Looks like Cairo was physically ready to play that day. And Cairo played the field 2 of the 3 games during his rehab.

Hopefully, he’ll go out maybe for a day or two on a rehab,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “We didn’t think he needed, but he hadn’t played that much prior to his injury. It’s not like June or July when he’d have a bunch of at-bats. We certainly need Miguel. He’s a guy who’s been a big part of our time. We anticipate some time on the next road trip that he’ll be back.”

Cairo went through extensive drills today.

“No problems,” he said. “Everything is mental now. You’ve got to get game-ready. In a game, you really push it. It’s confidence.”

Marty talked about it on the radio in the 2nd inning with either Sheldon or Fay the time he came of the DL.

But he was healthy enough to play the field during his rehab?

They wanted him to test how his injury reacted to playing in the field. That was the big test. They obviously wanted his bat back on the bench over Harris. I'm not making this stuff up. Like I said I like Cairo.
