A woman who told police that she was bound and robbed in a Downtown hotel room while accompanying Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman on a road trip is accused of stealing money from a companion in Maryland.

 

Shahryar Kamouei, 38, of Baltimore said on Thursday that Claudia Manrique, whom Pittsburgh police questioned for about 12 hours in connection with this week's hotel incident, took cash from his room during a December trip to Las Vegas and later transferred $2,000 from his online bank account.

 

Baltimore County police in March charged Manrique, 26, of Silver Spring, Md., with theft for the bank transfer. Court records show the case is pending.

 

Manrique could not be reached for comment.

LRCW, this is why I was cynical of the initial report. I wasn't aware of her past but something just seemed off.
