May 21, 201214 yr It does make running more of a pain but I'll take the tradeoff in order to enjoy the water. Pretty soon that will be the only thing you can do outside.
May 21, 201214 yr The weather has been nice, but we are already approaching too miserable to do anything temperatures in mid-May. I am still convinced we have it ingrained in to our heads that hot sunny weather = perfect. Outdoor jogging is close to being shut down for 3 1/2 - 4 months no matter the time of day, thinking clearly is eliminated with required squinting, and perpetual sweating for simple tasks just checking the mail. Luckily that I own a road bike now I can do some longer stuff early in the mornings. I see less people outside these next few months that I do any other time of the year. I love this weather !!!!!

May 21, 201214 yr It's going to be in the 90's this weekend and the next 15. :irked:I corrected it for you.
May 21, 201214 yr Pretty soon that will be the only thing you can do outside.I ran outside through all of last summer.

May 21, 201214 yr I still end up running through the summer, but it is about helpless if you are trying to get in any type of long run 10+ without some help. I normally set out frozen water bottles the night before and they are warm by the time I reach them at 7-8 a.m. I can't see myself training for a marathon during the heat of summer.

I think some of me being ok with the heat has to do with being a wrestler. I became VERY accustomed to doing physical activity in extreme heat.

I became VERY accustomed to doing physical activity in extreme heat. Yes and I did the 70.3 in Muncie in July. It sucked and a good reason I was summoned to the medical tent post-race. Most of my summer running was 6-10 miles outside, and I would do speed work indoors. Biking is where I spent most of my time and luckily that is tolerable during the summer.
May 21, 201214 yr I just know how much you Catholics love beer that's all, way to stay hydrated though. Got me there.
May 21, 201214 yr Pretty soon that will be the only thing you can do outside. That's my only real concern, I don't mind the heat too much even if I'm outside in it often but the fact that it's in the 90's this week and it's not even June makes me nervous. I don't mind 80's at all but when it get's in to the 90's and the heat index gets in the high 90's or over 100 well then it becomes a health issue for a large number of folks.
May 22, 201214 yr Loving this weather! The bright side for me is that since I do my outdoor exercise at 4:30am, I avoid the worst until the humidity becomes an issue. So far the humidity has been low, so no issues for me. Love the warm weather!

May 22, 201214 yr Actually, humidity is at its highest in the morning... Just saying. Could be. I'm no meteorologist. I do know it doesn't FEEL as bad as when the sun comes up and it gets hotter.
