Just a comment......Someone mentioned "Select Teams"........There are so many "Select" teams these days that it is not the same as it used to be. A select league used to be the elites, now there are some that wouldn't compete with a regular Knothole team. At the top, it is still competitive, but talent seems to be watered down as you move down the "select" level. I'm surprised to see select teams that have players that don't know how to catch a fly ball.

There are some select teams that don't need to be playing select, but SWOL is always happy to take your entry fee, whether your team belongs there or not. However, I've seen some B-Level knothole, and it, for the most part is absolutely abysmal

Seems like one of the schools taking some hits by posters in this thread just beat one of the schools being applauded.

Exactly! And that was my point, Ludlow has some good young talent. Coach Highfield, and Assistants Wise and Brewer have done a good job with group. They definitely have shown some good signs this year of getting the baseball program going in the right direction, and have some good young talent coming up as well that is use to winning. Ludlow has not been talked about much, but the future is looking better.

Beechwood plays as many as 30 games and also over schedules, but they are not serious about baseball. In most games, the best talent doesn't play. Too many parents calling and emailing coaches about playing time, they are not doing their kids any justice in the game of life. The home dugout is not even named after a Beechwood alum, it is named after the person who supplies their uniforms, that says it all.

 

A change at the top would eliminate most of this.

 

Uh....now I agree that teh dugout name is a little weird but I am sure they had some reason. :idunno: But of all the coaches in Northern Ky. the guys coaching at Beechwood (Myerhoff, Baioni, and Booth) are the last ones that are concerned about parental pressure and playing certain kids over others. They are their to win!

Our high school team won 0 games this season, and the record wasn't much better than that last year. So I would say our school needs mountains of seriousness to get back to having a contending team. We last won a district title in 1997.

Assuming all teams played 5 games to get to the Sweet 16 (some may have played 6), here are the # of regular season games played by the Sweet 16 participants. Remember the KHSAA max is 36. North Oldham seems to be the real outlier both in # of games played (26) and record (15-16).
