I think it is sad that people are so uptight these days. People take life way too seriously sometimes. But everybody is different. Not everyone has the ability to take a situation at face value and move on. As a society we all want people to act the way we want them to act and when they don't we become appalled at the 'stuff staining the pages of BGP'. I think the condescending tone of the holier than thou stains BGP.....so to each his own.

At what point do you feel that a line has been crossed? Or is anything fair game?

I think the other thread reached BGP's threshold (and possibly them some) but at the same time I agree with PP92 when it comes to a holier than thou attitude.

At what point do you feel that a line has been crossed? Or is anything fair game?

My sense of humor is awful. And I mean awful. There's not much I won't laugh at. I think laughter has become my defense mechanism to a certain extent. I will laugh at myself and I am not afraid to do so. I will also admit my flaws and personality differences and do want I can to coexist with those who share different values and beliefs than I do. Everybody is different. I can't stress that enough.

If you are speaking about attitudes or posts on BGP I can handle everything except personal attacks. The post where Rockmom's question was labeled stupid grated me and I hate when people call each other ignorant. We can disagree without making personal attacks on one another. I always make an attempt to not get personal when debating with someone unless I feel they are getting personal with me. Then all bets are off. I'll proceed in a manner that will not get me suspended. I've been on here long enough to be able to tell when people are joking(like with mtref and uk#1 for some) and when people are attacking(like the verbal display at Rockmom).

85's posts did reach the threshold of BGP as Guru stated and as a fan of David Chappelle, Howard Stern, Katt Williams, Kevin Hart, etc his posts were right up my alley. How he raises his son is his business and I think the shock of how he was able to word his posts without them getting deleted or him getting suspended added to the shock of the posts. I'm not going to begrudge him for how he wants to handle that situation with his son and his in depth description was hilariously funny. We don't know if that's exactly how 85 would handle that situation. He sounded like Kevin Hart talking about his kids in his stand up act to me and I enjoyed them. As did many. Some didn't and that's cool also. That's the joy of BGP. All these opinions and beliefs crash and people either become more tolerant and open minded or more close minded and indignant. I'll stand up what for what I feel but I am also more open minded than I may seem. I truly let things roll off my back.

Unless people want to get personal. Then I stop smiling.

I just can't see anyone making disgustingly lude comments in public and encouraging teen irresponsibility to be something laughable. It's a shame this kind of stuff is staining the pages of BGP.

The quoted should be deleted. I never encouraged teenage irresponsibility. I only said I am not mad if my son has sex with his teacher. My son is only six. I never said I would suggest to him to have sex, but I won't have naive kids either.

In 10 years, I might become more conservative. But if he were 16 right now, as a 36-year old, I just don't see where the situation makes me so mad to punish him. But at 46, and recognizing and accepting my mortality, I'd probably feel different. I acknowledged my double standard and said I would not have the same attitude if my daughter did the same thing.

Guru PM'd me and told what he had an issue with in the post. He cleaned it up. Chill out folks.

I don't want people to act like me, but I do know right from wrong. I'm not holier that thou...or anyone else. But if being cool and politically incorrect means going along with pornographicly lewd comments and questionable parenting decisions, then I guess I'll have to be labeled politically correct. Although, I just prefer to call it "correct."

Seiously, I don't see how a parent can tell their son it's okay to have casual sex without love or commitment. I'm a looooong way from a politically correct prude -- just ask around. And I'm not trying to be a jerk...although I can see it's coming off that way now. I'm just trying to stand up for what's right.

You're modifying your position somewhat now, and that's good to hear. Your earlier posts were very lewd, and it was sad to see that kind of stuff on BGP, which has a reputation for the highest of standards. I'm glad it got cleaned up. The reason so many of us objected to your posts was not only that they were disgusting in nature, but that they clearly promoted a kind of parenting that we feel is detrimental to the future of an impressionable teenager. Below are the comments we're talking about:

I hate to say it, but the whiste blower should have had his tires slashed. If my son is ever in a sexual relationship with a teacher, he will be told to play dumb like the Saints players were. He will play dumb while I am patting him on the back saying, "That's my boy."

Playa hatas need to be dealt with by using extreme prejudice.

Point I'm making is a high school boy is looking to get laid. If he nails a teacher, I find that impressive, especially considering how many of my teachers I wanted to bang while I was in school. I applaud a good job when I see it. Maybe you've had to have banged a chick out of your league, and/or banged an older woman to understand why I take my stance.

A big Johnson can drive a woman nuts. Cause her whole day will be spent thinking is her man bottoming out someone else when he is not with her.

My son, last time I checked (about 2 years ago, while we were at the unrinal at a Reds game) he shouldn't have a problem with reaching the bottom either. I would love to have a parent/teacher conference in which his female teacher says, "I think your son should take up acting and call himself Denzel Sausageton."

But as far as having sex with his teacher, I'm sorry, I just don't see where that would make me mad enough to punish him in any way.

No I'm not modifying my position, because I was speaking as in right now, as I said. Its more Paul Harvey as in "Now you know the rest of the story." WHat you consider a good thing for me is really of no real concern of mine, I said what I said, and I meant it. Just like if my nine year old daughter falls off a swing, I go 0-60 in about 3 nanoseconds to see is she OK. If my 6 year old son falls off the same swing, I ask, "You ok? Alright, get up then."

As far as my previous posts, I'm simply saying that when somethng like this happens, a jealous student was the whistle blower. My ladyfriend, says she worked in a school where this happened before we met. I went to a high school where it was plainly obvious that a senior football player was in an at best inappropriate and at worst sexual relationship with a teacher whom was the cheerleading coach. He was driving her car, walking out the building with her. It was common knowledge throughout a building of 3,000. Nobody cared to tell. I once told BGP this story, go find that post. I also mentioned that my then AD whom later ascended the ranks to being a principal of another school, remarked to me years later at a baseball game, "We saw what you guys saw." But this was way before social media and cell phones. I was only a freshman. The way they were so brazen about it was rather intimidating.

Everybody is different.

I didn't take it as 85 saying he'd tell his son it is okay to have casual sex without love or commitment. I took it as 85 making light of a situation that affects none of us emotionally. I took it at face value and left it there.

Okay. I can deal with that.

Uptight? Holier than thou has also been mentioned. Like I said, people that know me know that I talk like 85BearsFan among the guys. But my problem was with what he said directly to a woman on this site. If you guys are ok with that, then it's not me being uptight, it's you guys being uncouth or lacking in respect. I'm thinking that's not how you guys are, that you just didn't think of it in those terms.

She asked a question so I gave her an answer. That thing is dead. Everyone had a laugh or voiced their displeasure days ago. Let it go man. I wasn't trying to become a devisive or bombastic poster. I was simply stating my opinion on a matter. Turth be told, I never realized she was a woman until about 10 minutes after I answered her, and looked at her screen name. I saw a question posed to me. The only poster whose names I really pay attention to are Guru (because he is the founder); PP92 (Because he always shows me love) and Leatherneck and madman (just because we disagreed so much on the Zimmerman/Martin situation.

Some are rather uptight and holier than thou acting. I'm originally from Harlem, NY. 145 st over on Lennox. Millionaires living in apartments with rats. I have a different perspective on life than many in this state. It is what it is. My last response to anything about that.

I saw his answer to Rockmom as his third post in the thread to be consistent with how he answered questions from Guru and Mex. I didn't see it as a personal attack or disrespectful. Brash and unfiltered? Sure. But it was consistent with his perspective. He voiced his opinion and everyone else voiced theirs. He never singled out anyone in his posts or talked down to anyone either. He simply gave his perspective.

So you'd be cool with some guy that never met your wife talking to her in that manner? Those exact descriptive words? Sorry, it's disrespectful. I know I wouldn't allow it around my wife. Perhaps it our age difference, I don't know. If that makes me uptight, I'll proudly be uptight.

Fair enough, but that's part of the problem. Again, I talk the same way around guys. Problem on here is, you don't know who's a guy or a woman, or a kid for that matter.

If you want to consider me holier than thou acting, fine by me. I have zero problem with my core beliefs. I'm sure I'd get along fine with you if we met, and for the record, I don't think your a bad guy. It was what was said and who you directed it toward.
