May 10, 201214 yr Interesting . Ben-Gal case can proceed | Cincinnati.com | cincinnati.com It's going to get ugly if this proceeds. I can't see this ending well for the Mrs. Jones.
May 10, 201214 yr Why in all of these articles is there no mention that this is still ongoing because Eric Deters is so dumb he filed the original suit against TheDirt.com instead of TheDirty.com and that's why she won the default judgement? Why after that is she sticking with Deters and his idiotic law practice? Unless the rumors are true about how he accepts payment from these younger clients. Crazy stuff going on.
May 10, 201214 yr Interesting article Clyde. On keeping Deters, if he got the case this far why would you change lawyers now? Sounds like he is kicking behind to this point.
May 11, 201214 yr Interesting article Clyde. On keeping Deters, if he got the case this far why would you change lawyers now? Sounds like he is kicking behind to this point. I would have fired him when I won a default judgement for $11M but I couldn't collect a cent of it b/c he sued the wrong company. If all of this would have gone down years ago when it was scheduled she wouldn't have to face these questions about her sexual relationship with a high school kid in the civil case. She's lucky the judge didn't throw everything out for Deters being an idiot.
May 11, 201214 yr In my opinion Eric has positives and negatives like the rest of us. Most people dwell on the negatives but you can't overlook the fact that there is a place for lawyers like him in our society. I know this may not be a popular opinion but I believe it to be true.

What exactly is Eric's place in our society?

Not disagreeing with that. However in this case Ms. Jones thought she won $11M b/c TheDirty.com didn't show up for her trial when in fact they didn't show up b/c they weren't actually the ones who were sued. B/c of that idiocy now when/if this actually goes to trial ( I think she'll drop the suit depending on the timing of the criminal case) she will have to defend herself against allegations that have nothing to do with her original complaint. Deters has too much on his plate trying to get himself famous. It hurts his clients.
May 11, 201214 yr Sometimes you have to meet fire with fire. Hmm..."fire with fire"...well I would describe Eric more like a homemade pipebomb built by a 14-year-old low-IQ latchkey kid, with a little too much gunpowder and a uncomfortably short wick, and having potential to damage to the target, the 14-year-old, both of them, or to just fizzle out completely and be a dud.
May 11, 201214 yr On the Today show this morning they said it might be hard to prove website damaged your reputation when you have tanked it yourself.

The key will be if Deters or his partner can get everything tossed out after the failed lawsuit. If not she almost has to drop the case depending on the timing of the two court battles. I'd assume her ex husbands testimony would be crucial in the civil case.
May 12, 201214 yr Deters was on facebook going off on Dirty.com for taking pictures of his daughter that just graduated from law school.

May 14, 201214 yr Maybe he can sue TheDirt.com about it. I'd say it's more likely than not that he does.
