I have no issue with the Hanigan/Meso split. Hanigan is fine and I'd much rather them ease Meso into it than burn him out during his first year in the Show. It's also clear he's got a bit to learn yet. That will all work itself out.

I think he did say something similar to that in ST but that obviously isn't the case.

 

I noticed that he caught back to back games and then didn't play for 5 days and then back to back days so I really wondered what was going on with him.

What exactly were you expecting from him?

Ludwick is just another version of Jonny Gomes, isn't he?

Heisey may be even closer to Gomes than Ludwick...I think Ludwick will heat up with the warmer temps coming...I see him finishing with about a .250 average 15-20 HRs and about 70a rbis...I think those are close to his numbers last year...I personally like Frazier out there more than anyone...

I like Hanigan's defense and handling of the pitchers and I am satisfied with that part of his game. I just really like the offense that Meso could bring to the table and if he's ever going to be ready to work with these pitchers on an everyday basis then he's going to have to be given that chance. That's what Hernandez brought to the table and when he was healthy he was considered the #1.

Of course not but I'm not expecting much more than Gomes. He's on pace for 20+ HR and 70+ RBI.

I could live with those numbers from Ludwick and I am concerned that Heisey will never be anything more than we are seeing today.

Let's go with some offense here, you can't lose a series to the Houston Astros. Was it last year that the Pirates were a thorn in the Red's side? It can't be the Astros this year.

Mesoraco is a 23 year old catching in the bigs for the first time. Most catchers hit their prime in their late 20's. I wouldn't expect too much out of Mesoraco and I think Dusty is right to work him in like he is. Right now, Hanigan is 1A. By the end of the year Mesoraco might be 1A but he is going to have to learn, improve and earn it. By the way did anyone see the stats in today's Enquirer on the Reds record when the two catchers start - Reds 8-3 with 2.64 ERA with Hanigan; 1-8 with 4.87 ERA with Mesoraco. Some of that is obviously a product of who is catching who buyt still a startling stat.

I just don't understand how Heisey can be such a good PH and so bad when playing everyday.
