Why is Barnes the only canidate? I thought someone on the staff was the frontrunner.

Someone on their staff was the only one to apply last summer when Hatchell left them high and dry in June. I think Gates took over for a year so that Barnes could get his affairs in order and go through the application process and still have spring practice to work with the team. Whoever gets the job will have some good players coming back in 2006.

They've had several applicants (I don't know them all), but my understanding all along has been that the job is Barnes' if he wants it.

He was No. 1 on the list three years ago, but Caldwell had to settle for their second pick when they hired Hatchell.

Barnes turned the job down 3 years ago. What has he done at Daviess County?

What is Barnes' record at Daviess and how well has he done in the playoffs? I have also heard that they had spoken to someone (an assistant) from a top program in Tennessee. Is there any truth to this?

"Tend to your biscuits."

Coach Barnes is from caldwell and should be their next coach if he wants it. The community of Princton really likes him and was offered the job before Hatchell took it. Should be an easy decision for him seems like his program has come full circle and has struggled the last several years with low numbers and support.

Daviess County has had 1 winning season in the last 6 years.I'm not sure what they did in the 90's but I know they have never gone very far in the playoffs.Alot of years they didn't even make the playoffs.

They only won the State Championship in '98.

Caldwell won the State in 98 and 63. I wasn't talking about Caldwell County. I was talking about what has Daviess County done in the 90's.What is Barnes's won -lost record since he's been there?

There's alot of coaches in the state that are from Caldwell County.Several of them have been very sucessful and one of them is a legend.

You talking about Jaggars?

Kenny Barrett, who led Russellville to a pair of state titles, is from Princeton. So are Joe Jaggers (five championships, three at Fort Knox and two at Trigg County) and Tony Franklin, to name a couple of others.

To name a few others,Craig Clayton,Marty Jaggers, and Dixie Jones were all born and lived alot of their lives in Caldwell County.
