Who is in the running for Caldwell County?

Featured Replies

I've heard that Marty is the second highest paid head coach in the state. I have no doubt that Mercer County's a pretty good gig.

However, his track record is that of someone who moves on quickly. I would expect his name to come up with a lot of job openings.

How do you figure? What's your definition of moving on quickly?? He was the head coach at Lincoln Co for 6 years and then went to Danville as offensive coordinator for 8 years. I can guarantee you there are coaches in the state who have moved around a lot more than that. Im sure he's inquired about jobs, but his name happens to get brought up in job openings whether he asks for it or not, more so than anything, seems like to me.

How long was he at Dunbar?

He took the job for a few days then backed out.

I'm just saying he kinda has that reputation, earned or not.

I think he'll continue to do a great job as long as he's at Mercer County. He would have been a very strong coach at Caldwell as well, or anywhere else for that matter.

I just think the folks at Mercer County should be prepared to have Jaggers' name brought up anytime there are coaching vacancies.

It is obvious when someone is jealous of another (blackshirts). Appreciate the kind of coach Marty is! He is one of the best in the state. So stop trying to pick at him. The folks at Mercer know it and they will understand that when someone is as good as Marty he will be contacted quite often by schools hoping to lure him away. Take a look at Marty's head coaching record. He is a winner. Look at what Danville did while he was there. Who ever you are just get over the fact that you have issues with him that you aren't man enough to take up face to face. This topic was about the Caldwell job; not rumors about Marty Jaggers. Leave the man alone. :madman:

I'm referring to anyone on here attempting to get in a cheap shot at Marty. Who cares about Dunbar or how long he was there. The topic is Caldwell. I believe you and a few others like to get on here and hide behind the mask and use certain topics to take cheap shots. I think speculating on a coaches job is against the rules. Maybe i am wrong but it seems to me like yourself, ckyfootball and ptowndude are trying to take some weak jabs at Jaggers. He's probably forgot more football than 90% of the people (that think they know what they are talking about) on this site will ever know.

I want to talk about the Caldwell job. I've heard that the only person interviewed for the job was Barnes at Daviess County? I know that he played at Caldwell along time ago but why wouldn't they want to look at and at least interview some of the other applicants. He may be the greatest guy in the world but there's alot of good guys out there with alot better records.I heard that one of the members on the committee has a son that is a young QB.I also heard that Barnes has a son in the same grade who is also a QB.Somebody is not going to be happy real soon.

What I meant was that there is no way that Jaggers would WANT to leave Mercer Co.!! He has done a wonderful job there in only one year, and those folks do not even want to think about him leaving, nor would they allow it!! No weak jabs intended.

I agree 100%, Marty Jaggers is one of the best football coaches in the state. :ylsuper:

He needs to stay somewhere for a while to prove this. One year here and there does not make him the best yet.

Again, where do you and others get off on making the statement that Marty is a "one year, here and there" type coach?!?! Before he took the Mercer head job, he spent 14 years between 2 schools (Lincoln County and Danville..10 miles apart), prior to that he had a couple few year stints as an assistant. :fight:

I find it odd that someone gets upset because their coach is a hot commodity.

Would it be better if he sucked and no one was interested in him?

BTW, Caldwell press conference at 3:30 Friday to name new coach.

The new coach at Caldwell will be David Barnes. He informed his team at Daviess Co. tody, that he was going to take the Caldwell job.
