5 syllables for ya...........................CLASS I FI CA TION in baseball. Really it only makes sense.............
Yeah...those blowouts NEVER happen in classified football....:sssh:

Classification would not end 40 to 0 beatings. Augusta is pretty much lousy at all sports but they are in the same district. Change the rules of district play, when you have a team that is that bad allow them to concede and take the 4th place spot in that district so the score of that game isn't taken into account for tie breaking purposes. No body wins in a 40-0 game.

Yes they do..............nice sarcasm on something that really needs to be addressed in baseball. MY point to that is classify and then you still will have the have's and have nots but you at least have a much more level playing field as the reason for classfiying. Every other state classify's, the NCAA classify's but for some reason Ky. has cornered the market on doing this right?????? Yeah ok..........

Yeah lets worry about the 40 runs messing up your tie breaker and not address the real issue................Sure take the 4 seed and then get beat by the number one seed in the district 40- 0.....yeah that is a great solution.

I know it happened against Scott one year, 2003 I think. When was the other?

Cooper in 2009.

They will still have to play in the District Tournament, so whats the difference?

No mention of this game on Maysville paper web site.

Not sure if this is the reason; but the Ledger stopped Tuesday hard copy editions this month. The game was mentioned in today's article on the 21-5 win over Newport.

10 years ago to the month that Augusta led Mason Co. 4-1 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th. Just one out away from making it an official game as the game was called due to lightning. (With the help of some 'royal' complaining to not continue.)

My have things changed.:isurrender:

I did not know that, I am not a subscriber, just view online every once in a while. Thanks for the info!

^ You are more than welcome. Still finding it hard to break the habit of going out to the box in the morning for the paper. Sudoku, Cryptogram and crossword puzzles have to wait another 24 hours.

They would not have play during the regular season.

As someone very early in the thread noted - Mason County isn't exactly a baseball powerhouse. And wasn't a decade ago, either.

40-0 is less likely to happen in the first round of district. Runs scored or runs allowed is a tie breaker factor in regular season play, in post season all that matters is that you win so teams playing an inferior opponent will pull starters quickly and not risk injury. 40-0 blow outs may still happen, however classification will not end that either.

If you want classification, just say it. Don't say it is a way to end blow outs or puts teams on a level playing field. It doesn't do that.

This paticular game I'm talking about was in 2002, I was there. Haven't kept up with either baseball program since 2004 so maybe there was a similar game more recent.
