I was just told from a player on Mercer County's football team that Paul Rains has resigned from Mercer County to become the head coach at Letcher County. Can anyone confirm this?

If hes leaving Mercer for Letcher he needs his head examined IMO.

The upcoming hiring situation will be interesting at Mercer County. They have an interim Superintendent who hired Rains. A new Superintendent is expected to be hired soon and the interim Superintendent is one of the choices and the only Mercer resident of the new choices. His son will be a freshman next year and is a quarterback and may see some time on defense next year. It will be interesting to see if he is allowed to make the hire or if they will let the new Superintendent make the hire.

There were other factors at play. Specifically the financial woes of MC school system and uncertainties of positions. Not to mention his budget for football next year....$0. School system is in a tough position....hopefully things will turn around for the school and they can move forward. IMO...their first order of business should be to name their interim super permanant super. He is good guy who has communities best Internet at heart.

I agree 100%, with both. The Booster Club is having to foot the bill for everything; from transportation to helmet reconditioning and everything in between. You can't ask for a better all around guy than Dennis Davis.
