shooterx3 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Enough of this Fairview/Ashland talk, I think this is the premier game Friday night, whats your predictions? What do you think Tiny? How about it Cubster? :thumb: How about a "tiny" guarantee ala at41? Look what its done for him!
kinglion Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Boyd Co by 6, 68-62 The Lions will be up for this one and Russell will not have an answer for Owens
russellrooter Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Russell by 5. Russell started its "winning ways" against Letcher by limiting their bigtime player (Eli W) to less than 20 pts. They'll get by a scrappy Raceland team thanks to a big game from Blair, solid team defense and team rebounding. The only way that Russell gets beat by Owens and BC is if they kill Russell on the boards which is very possible. Even in Russell's losses this year, they haven't been beaten by a "huge" game from one player, including Bryan Station, Dunbar, and Morgan County. Eli Warren from Letcher was "Owens like" but he wasn't a huge factor. Now that everyone's back and healthy, Russell loses to teams that crash the boards and gets a ton of putbacks or when they don't get into their offense. While both these are possible agains BC, January is a new month.

However, if he scores 30+ and the Red Devils take a loss, I wouldn't be surprised either. He has serious skills! Sure would throw a wrench in Cubsters poll if Russell beats Boyd.

I hate to tell you but you havent played any teams that have a player like Owens.
Eagle 8 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I hate to tell you but you havent played any teams that have a player like Owens. Right you are, no one devil can guard him but a swarming D when he puts it on the floor could slow him down. If Boyd wins the secondary scorers have to step up. Owens will draw all kinds of attention. Look for the devils to use a zone defense :thumb:

But if they are hitting, a zone won't work, just ask Ashland about that.
tomcatsalute Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 With Russell having all of their players back I like Russell in a close game. Russell 71 BC 67
TCatfan Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Russell may have everyone back but I think it will be 2 to 3 more weeks before they start getting it together. If Owens and Co. are stroking it look for Boyd to win by about 20. If the shooting is off I still think Boyd wins in a close one.
Rickyp Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 At this point in time I will pick Boyd. Blair is back for Russell but I doubt he is 100%. However, if Vanhoose shoots it like he did against Letcher Co. everything changes.
