Any vegetarians on BGP?

Featured Replies

I never said I considered fish meat, I don't. I said I don't think vegetarians eat fish either, or that's what I thought I was saying.

Ok then...I think we both got mixed up.

Some do some don't. Just depends on the person really.
If they do I wouldn't really call them one.

I just had a very anti-vegetarian lunch. Grilled pork chop, sauteed kale greens with mushrooms, onions, and bacon, and black-eyed peas with jalapenos and bacon.

I like seafood way too much to ever consider it. Pan-seared scallops, steamed blue crabs, crab imperial, lobster tail with drawn butter (monkfish makes a great substitute), fried oysters; I could go on and on.

I'm not technically a vegetarian, but I'm never upset to not eat meat. Pasta dishes, for instance...I prefer them without meat. I actually don't even have much desire for meat in the summer, preferring a ton of veggies (especially grilled ones) instead.

I have a TON of vegetarian friends, and quite a few vegan friends as well. I can't imagine it's too difficult to make the committment.

Yeah...but those were dark days...now it's all sunshine and rainbows....and a meat-eater. :D

Sunshine and gingers. :bunny:

Back when I was going to school at WKU, I stayed in BG for a summer. During that time, I was being very hippyish and quit eating meat for several months -- almost six. I went to my parents' place toward the end of the summer to visit. When we pulled in to the driveway, the old man was out by the grill cooking up steaks, including a perfect rare ribeye that made sure I never considered something so ridiculously silly as vegetarianism again.

The Morning Star Farm options are not bad. I love the "Chikn" patties. They taste like breaded veal cutlets to me. The faux ribblets aren't bad either. I have a friend who has several tasty recipes for tofu. When you eat her chili, you'd never know there was no meat in it. Boca burgers are really good, with enough hot sauce. :D

My daughter's best friend has her family on an vegan diet. She was a fine looking young lady before going that route. Her entire family looks gaunt and pasty, now, eyes all sunk in, and remember, we're in Florida. Even if you stay out of the sun, you get a tan here just doing normal outdoor stuff, like walking to and from your car.

A vegetarian diet just isn't healthy. No way you get the proper amount of good protein. There are too things our bodies cannot do without, protein and fat.
