If people are naive to think some of the Saints flags were not thrown as a result of the bounties, I think people are equally as naive to think there has not been "pay for injury bounty systems" before. A lot depends upon your definition of injurying another player. Most of these rewards, bounties, etc. are to knock a QB out of the game within the confines of the game. Countless of players have acknowledged this. Now the coaching staff leading the charge, that is another issue and a serious one. However I do think it has occurred a lot through the years. The Saints were warned and did not stop. I believe that ticked off the Commissioner more than anything else.

I found it interesting today that it was released that the NFL sends out posters that are hung all over lockerooms that preach no bounties. The Saints don't have a leg to stand on. I also think there are a lot of hypocrits since this came out. I would be shocked if there aren't bounties done with other teams. Just an example of where the game is heading. There's no place for it for coaches to play. With all the head injuries etc they are trying to clean the game up. Can't do it with a cloud like this. Ironically the biggest segment on Monday nights is called JACKED UP!!! Lots of double standards out there!

I don't think there's a place for it. I think it's gone on a long time. I respect trying to protect players brains. I despise how soft they try to make safeties!

Really? I swear I thought I watched it this year. Ah past college life is catching up to me lol. That's right they went to the Come On Man concept. That's a great point though. Everybody misses it. It's what makes football special. There was nothing I loved more growing up than seeing somebody try to go over the middle on Ronnie Lott or Steve Atwater. Now I could sit all Sunday watching Ed Reed+Troy Polamalu play the position. It pains me watching safties get flagged for a physical hit. I totally agree that coaches can't be making rules to play players for taking people out. Be interesting to see the lawsuits that come out of this.

Still the celebration of guys getting layed out. That's one of the best parts about football for most. I understand trying to protect players. Sounds great! The reality is it is an incredibly violent game played by some of the fircest men in the world. 250 running 4.4 in an all out collision sport where you impose your will.
