How is that possible? Had Mason won the game you refer to, it would have been two teams from the same district playing in the region SFs.

 

It was actually an all Maysville/Alexandria semi-finals. Mason County beat Campbell County, Brossart beat St. Patrick, then Brossart went on to beat Mason County to advance to state where it won its first game before falling in the quarterfinals.

Should be more than that, very weak district.

 

St. Patrick won the District in 2000, they were loaded with talent. Lost at the buzzer to Brossart in the region semis who went on to win the region that year. Fleming County won in 98 and 99. Fleming won back to back regions that year and made a run to the state semis in one of those season. So no it should not be more.

Madison Central's is weaker than Mason's. I am sure.

Central's district may be weak but their region (11th) is one of the toughest in the state.

I think Clay County won 16 straight in the 49th from 1978 to 1993.

I agree on the region being very tough I was just talking about the district.

St. Patrick, Fleming County and Mason County all had some pretty good teams and quality games in the mid to late 90s.

 

Fleming County made the State Final 4 in 1998 and made a return trip to Rupp in 1999.

 

I believe it was the team from 1996 or 1997 that gave St. Patrick it's first win over Mason County ever, which culminated in what I believe is St. Patrick's last victory over Mason County in the 2000 district title.

 

As mentioned, St. Patrick went 20-9 and lost in the regional semis that year to Brossart, 61-60, the night before Brossart defeated Mason County on a buzzer beater by Justin Seiter at The Fieldhouse.

 

For a couple of years, those three teams were as good as anyone in the region. Since Fleming left and St. Patrick's talent level has dropped off, along with some guys named Lofton, Grutza, Setty(s), and Miller, the District has been undeniably weaker than it has probably ever been.
