  1. ColonelMike, do you know if this game will be broadcast on Pegasus sports?
  2. Collins beat Moore 54-14 in the 2nd game of the season and it could have been much worse if they hadn't had several turnovers and a ton of penalties. I wouldn't award the 4A crown to JC just yet.
  3. Spencer won't be playing an undefeated Franklin Co, Collins beat them Friday night 23-0.
  4. Congratulations Nathan & Ryan! So proud of two of our Titan seniors who led us through a fantastic season and the 4A State Championship! I look forward to following your careers at MSU, go Titans, go Eagles!
  5. WOW, just saw in the Herald-Leader where the Collins Titans had 3 players make the 22 player Class Of The Commonwealth Team!!! Quite an honor for Lawson Page, Dre Farris, and Masai Whyte & all of Titan Nation!!! Congratulations to all the players that made the team! 6. Yes Collins lost to Central Hardin 36-32 but in that game Collins lost their best athlete, Dre Farris in the first quarter to an injury. Even with that, Collins had the ball on CH's 19 yard line with 1 second left and had a chance to win it, but couldn't complete a pass in the end zone. No excuse, just saying.
  7. My thread was to draw attention to the fact that outside the loyal Collins faithful very few people considered the Titans to be a 4A State Champion contender. I have the upmost respect to Highlands, Coach Mueller and his staff, and the entire Bluebird community, what they have done over the course of their history and their 22 State Championship seasons has been amazing. I apologize if I have offended any of the HHS faithful. Go Titans, Go Bluebirds!!!
  8. I see none of you Highland fans has responded to my posts under Collins 2013, what's the matter, Titans got your tongues???
  9. Let me first start off by saying that I have bitten my tongue for 4 years for Collins not getting the respect they were due on this site. Highlands is a great team and program with a lot of tradition, State Championships, and victories and deserves all the respect and accolades that a team of that caliber are due. However, last night's victory was NOT an upset as many of you have suggested, the BETTER team won! The framework for the 2013 Titans was started last year after the humbling 47-0 loss to Highlands in the 2012 Class 4A Championship. Collins was a junior/sophomore lead team and were awestruck from being on the big stage. Also, Highlands made plays and the Titans did not, the Bluebirds deserved to win, the Titans didn't. After the loss Coach Lucas and the coaching staff sat down to discuss what we needed to do to get to Highlands' level, obviously the first thing was to play more kids and 2-platoon if we could. Collins had 19 out of 22 starters coming back off of last years team and a ton of freshmen and sophomores that we knew could play for us on Friday nights and be successful. Secondly, we knew that we had to put many of our better athletes on the defensive side of the ball where we gave up a ton of points last year. However, with a squad of only 59, we also knew that we had to be able to play kids on both sides of the ball. Unlike Highlands and many of the more established programs, we don't have a 100+ kids to pick and choose from to decide who plays on offense and who plays on defense, so we had to have crossover players. We also don't have 12-15 coaches that many of the larger programs have where we can split the coaching staffs to only coach offense or defense. Collins has 9 coaches and many of them coach both offense and defense to the same kids so we don't loose anything when we have to put a #2 or #3 kid in the game. And being able to play the crossover athletes gives us the flexibility to play many more kids on a Friday night. By my count Collins played 32 kids last night, many on both sides of the ball that allowed them to stay fresh and not wear down like last year. Highlands I would imagine played around 45 kids, that is what they more or less averaged throughout the season, so the numbers were not near as skewed as last year. Finally, Coach Lucas and the staff knew we had to keep up with Highlands and not get down by 2 or 3 scores to beat them. Coach Lucas has told the kids since last year no matter if the score is 3-2 or 62-63, we would beat Highlands this year, the Titans just needed to make plays and play the next play with everything they had and they would win. Highlands made big plays last night, we knew they would. Some of their big plays were from outstanding efforts by their athletes, some were from missed assignments by the Titans. Regardless of what happened, we just couldn't give up. We knew the Titans would make big plays last night and we did, even our backup QB with the final dagger! But more than anything we knew that we had to get 4, 5 of more stops on the great Highlands offense in order to win the game, by my count we got at least 6 maybe more. With that many stops we knew the Titans would win and we did. Highlands had averaged 51+ points a game this season, they got 34; they had been giving up 20+ points a game, the Titans earned 37. Collins had been averaging 41+ a game, we got 37; we have been giving up 13+ a game, Highlands got 34. Collins won the game and the point differential! Finally for those of you who have dogged Collins for being a lesser team because of our losses to Simon Kenton and Central Hardin, let me say that they were both very good if not outstanding 6A teams that had a combined season winning record of 23-3. Both of the Titans losses were in the last seconds, 23-21 to Simon Kenton with 20+ seconds to go on a 20+ yard field goal and 36-32 to Central Hardin when Lawson Page's last second TD strike to Nathan Sames from 19 yards out was knocked down by a Central Hardin defender. Also in the Central Hardin game ones of Collins best athletes, Dre Farris went out with an injury early in the 1st quarter, never to return. Throughout the 4 year Collins history, we live by the Titan5: 1. Do the Right Thing, 2. Work Hard, 3. Overcome Adversity, 4. Find A Way, and 5. Finish Strong. The 2013 Titans did that Last night in Bowling Green against a VERY good Highlands Bluebirds team, and because of that they are the 2013 Class 4A State Champions!!! A victory, NOT and upset!
  10. Congratulations to Raceland on your first Regional Championship!!! Good luck next week! Keep them working Sidelinedoc!
  11. Great High School football game Collins was up 17-14 at half. Got a safety and field goal in 3rd qtr to lead 22-14. Central Hardin came back and scored and got 2 point conversion to tie it. Collins then scored la TD and field goal to retake the lead 32-22, but Central Hardin scored 2 TDs in 4th qtr to lead 36-32 with 1:30 left. Collins took kickoff inside their 20 with 1:30 left and 1 timeout and drove all the way to Central Hardins 19 with less than a second left. Collins threw pass in end zone that was batted away to end game. Collins had 439 yds of offense to Central Hardins 279.
  12. Collins beat Ballard 53-20 at UK's 7 on 7 tournament. True, is was just a passing tournament, but my money is still on Collins!
  13. Nice to meet you too sidelinedoc! You were in a perfect position, couldn't loose because you are close friends with both of the Coach Lucas'. We would have loved to had a win against a very good SK team, but couldn't hold on at the end. Our kids and coaching staff learned a lot from the game and hopefully will turn it into a positive from here on out! Good luck with the rest of the season!
