  1. Yep. Ben-Hur edged out Mesala in the closest Indy finish ever.
  2. The only time I went to the 500, the polesitter crashed during warmups and never got in the race.
  3. Been a long wait for Mason County. My oldest was in middle school. .
  4. The Mason win was a shocker. I thought Campbell would get by Bourbon, but it wasn’t a monumental upset. GRC was their regional bugaboo, and they were obviously on opposite sides of the draw.
  5. Mason County 6 GRC 3. First trip to the regional final in thirty years for the Royals.
  6. Joe West, on working with Hernandez. “I always liked working with him. He made me look good”.
  7. Yesterday’s results. Bourbon County 1 Bracken County 0 Campbell County 11 Nicholas County 0
  8. Mason County bounces Harrison County in the first round. By my calculations, that’s a statistically rare event. First win over HC since 2014 and just the fourth in the last 27 years.
  9. Pacers had a 90+ percent chance to win late in games 1, 3 and 4. They’re not quite ready for the big time yet, especially without Halliburton on the floor.
  10. I’d say Alcindor, Walton and Laettner, in that order. Hard to go very wrong with Walton at number one, though.
  11. I read a long time ago that Walton was seven feet tall, but considered that to be a bit freakish. He insisted that he be listed at 6-11.
  12. There’s a great bit out there where Walton is talking about the first time he took the Celtics to a Dead concert. All except Ainge. His wife wouldn’t let him go.
