  1. I'm all for the scarlet A in this situation. No way he should be out of jail yet. Ridiculous. I hope he gets a good old fashioned beat down in the near future.
  2. Coach McKee has a new weekly show with the Gtown News Graphic. He mentions how things went the last time he took the Cards up to cake-eater country. Check it out: Scott County Coach's Show | S1E1 | News-Graphic - Home - News Graphic
  3. Georgetown looked pretty good in the opener at home tonight. The defense was pretty dominant. Go Tigers!
  4. This morning on First Take, Steven A Smith was blasting Boomer Esiason. One of the comments was "You can't understand because you are a white man." I don't buy that argument. I think I am predisposed to dispositions because of my upbringing, but I don't think it's impossible for me to understand so I thought I would ask BGP to help. I believe strongly in personal accountability so I have a hard time with most of the situations the media has focused on lately. I wanted to hear about innocent black victims. The examples given so far have been perfect.
  5. Thank you for sharing FtN. That's ridiculous.
  6. So the one example given is along the line of black privilege. That wasn't really what I was asking for but ok.
  7. I'm not looking for a police bash. I actually have a disposition that in almost all the hot topic cases the circumstances were created by the people of color. In an effort to try to live outside my "white privilege" world I'm asking for examples where the person of color was truly an innocent victim.
  8. Most recently it seems police officers have been the main focus but I'm up for whatever example(s) you find most obviously racist.
  9. I saw someone post that the white swimmer rapist got a MUCH lighter sentence than a black man who was falsely accused of rape. To me (middle aged white guy), this injustice is much more obvious than incidents where a person of color is committing a crime, resists, and it results in death. What incident(s) do you point to and say - no doubt about it, the police (and only the police) were completely out of line here and it resulted in a person of color's death? It's hard for me because I feel the media dilutes the truth so much that Fox reports that the person was committing a crime just before they were shot even if they weren't, while the rest of the media reports racism even when a black cop shoots a black criminal who was actually pointing a gun at him. What are the most blatant instances of racism with police brutality in your mind?
  10. An interesting read: America’s Five National Anthems - capradio.org
  11. Leaked from a lying, manipulative, bastard school administrator I'm sure...
  12. The police have much less strict confidentiality requirements. Schools that develop strong relationships with police officers and departments can get the word out indirectly but legally.
  13. Shall I explain the truancy laws? Lol. Listen, I hear you. I even agree that more info should be allowed to be provided. But schools get a bad rap for not divulging information and I want the public to know why. Schools have a hard enough job without being blamed for laws that limit information distribution.
  14. You need to talk to your legislator. The school would get in big trouble for giving the specifics that many parents want. A student brought a gun. We are working with authorities. Quoting the procedure from official school documents. That's about all you can legally give as a school district.
  15. The reports have to be extremely general. If a child was directly targeted, the school has to follow a duty to inform law that trumps the confidentiality law, but even then, many districts report to law enforcement and allow them to share the name and the threat with those targeted as to avoid breaching confidentiality. It's like most laws. The basic intent is good but the implementation gets too detailed and oversteps common sense.
  16. I can't imagine being the father of the victim. I think I would have to take action. Only 20 minutes or so...
  17. Wasn't sure where to put this. Good stuff from Principal Joe Pat Covington. Scott County Schools
  18. Every person I know - both white and black - has expressed disapproval of the penalty for the swimmer. I read that he is set to be released Friday. Freaking ridiculous.
  19. IMO the death penalty is appropriate in this case (based on the evidence we know about) I hate the process of the death penalty. But not the penalty itself. There are some people in this world that do not deserve to live.
  20. Schools are under confidentiality laws so they can seldom be totally transparent with the public in these types of situations. Now schools can be completely transparent with police officers who can then do with that information as they see fit. But schools cannot go public with specific information about students. Period. Can't believe I'm in any way defending HHS. I can't stand the cake eaters. Dang it Guru...
  21. I don't agree with him but I think he is going about it the right way. Peaceful protest is always acceptable in my book. Now he will have to face The reprocussions that come from taking a stand like this... But the flag flies to show freedom for just this type of thing. It's the violent protesters: rioters and guys shooting police officers like snipers that I have a serious problem with. Even the protests that block roadways cross the line in my opinion. Sitting down to bring attention to a cause (even a cause I don't believe in) is perfectly acceptable.
  22. Oh yeah 4 hours from my in-laws 1 hour from my parents.
