  1. OK, Cam. :irked: You, apparently, enjoy coming in and kicking someone while they're down, as this has nothing to do with the thread. But, since you've brought it up, you failed to mention that, while correct about the score, Coach Derossett cleared his bench with everyone eligible to play in that game and I'm sure he welcomed, as usual, some all-important playing time for his younger players. I'm also sure that he was pleasantly surprised with their contributions. Should he instruct his younger players to take the field and not play the game? Or use this time to assess their progress while getting them some invaluable game experience, all the while avoiding injury? Some programs are able to enjoy playing time for their younger players on a regular basis, as this was. They simply enjoyed an unusual amount of success that night. Simple as that. And, since you're intent on deviating from the thread, not to mention your own statement attacking Coach Derossett, since he's the one at the top, you state that only some good kids are in the present program. All of the kids in the program are good kids, both the veteran players and the incoming class! And this shouldn't disappoint you, as much as you dislike the program. :thumb:
  2. These don't sound like Kentucky names??? This thread is about KY high school players.
  3. More took off on this break, Buck, and I understand that one of those was the coach's son. This is only to give you an example of the methods used, or not used, whatever the case may be.
  4. Thanks for the info, Oldtimer! :thumb:
  5. Especially for an athlete who has played 4 years of high school football and basketball beginning as a freshman and who decides, as a senior, it's time to get away for the week the school determined as the spring break that just happened to fall at the beginning of the baseball season! :irked: And this particular athlete was one who everyone knew was a team player in everything he participated in. :thumb: I can think of very few reasons for such a reaction from the coach. :sssh:
  6. I don't believe they'll have time to do that now...
  7. Yep, but I don't think anyone could think of any so the territory just grew!
  8. Is Jenkins struggling again, or is KCC solid this year?
  9. Yes, unfortunately. And I hope it didn't create an impression that one, in particular, is still attempting to deal with. No coach should be in a position that creates a situation that leaves a player, no matter how mature, wondering how a proper scenario would have worked out.
  10. I have no doubt about the strength of competition, knowing who's in it, but the only way the Blackcats will get better is by playing the competition, even knowing that the odds would be long! And I know one who is back, and on the team, but I don't know if he's even been in for one out. I haven't asked either in the morning or evening. I have, however, given him my opinion. It's just not anything I'm involved with, nor been involved with since about this time last year. :thumb:
  11. P-burg should participate in this tournament since some of the other AA schools compete. It would be some good experience for the kids, if nothing else. :thumb: They always need the work.
  12. I have heard nothing new regarding this in quite some time now.
  13. Or they can call the school to find out when the scheduled site-based council meeting is and attend, then ask the question regarding the coach while there. :thumb:
  14. That is a good reason! :thumb: I'm sure they didn't want the replacements stolen as well.
  15. Heck, try spreading the word around... Who knows? Maybe enough will get excited again and make a positive influence on those in a position to affect a change. :thumb:
  16. And I've yet to see a score posted for P-burg so, apparently, things have returned to old form. Mike Hall has a recent score up so it can't be due to basketball players playing in the regional tournament, especially with the other teams getting some work in, especially Johnson Central. So, even if the players are serious about the game, they're still not getting any early work to help them down the road. :irked: And that's too bad...
  17. No problem... Just trying to help. :thumb: I'd like to see the Bobcat program back on its feet again as well.
  18. I've been on here for quite some time, sportster, and it appeared that you were having some difficulty so I was only offering some friendly advice I've learned during my time on here. Nothing more, and I surely didn't intend to raise your hackles! :thumb: I just didn't think repetition would get the answers you seek.
  19. So, it was either a personal thing between the player and coach or, since no other player left during spring break last year the coach determined it was a mistake and decided not to deter them from leaving for this year's spring break, think?
  20. And all the while able get the most from the talent he has available to build from. While the current season is of primary concern, all players must also be ready for play when the time comes. And coaching is not necessarily only immediate. :thumb:
  21. Yes, it will be a fantastic facility for all the teams who play there, but that will still leave the Floyd County Board of Education without a single baseball field they can call their own(or were they finally able to incorporate one into the new South Floyd football complex?)! :creepy: Isn't that strange?
