  1. He was Dudley Hilton's lead assistant at Breathitt Co. and that is the only place he has been the head coach. I could find out his record from the 80's if I went to Breathitt Co. because he has team photos with records of all his teams from the 80's in Coach Chapman's office, but like I said, I would have to go to Breathitt Co. I just searched on google and couldn't find anything about it. You are right about the wins being tabulated by the KHSAA now. I would assume that unless someone from Breathitt Co. reports his wins from the 80's that it won't be listed.
  2. That is one of those stats in the KHSAA record books that have to be submitted by the school. Holcomb never was much for submitting stats unless he had a player doing extremely well or the team was really good. I know he isn't submitting stats about himself. His first year was either '82 or '83, and he had a few 7-8-9 win seasons in that decade. I distinctly remember him getting the 200 win plaque at the state finals a couple of years ago. It was either the last Belfry championship or the Russell win.
  3. ^ He got a plaque for his 200th win at the state finals a couple of years ago, maybe the year Russell won it last. I'd say he has around 225 career victories.
  4. Rumor has it that the last time Mike Holcomb chartered a bus was in the playoffs one year in the 80's to Russell (maybe) and lost. He has not taken Breathitt Co. on a charter bus since.
  5. I fully expect a big crowd at the Russell-Breathitt game. These two teams have an excellent rivalry and history to boot. The last three times they have met, Breathitt Co. has won the state championship. Look for the visitors side to be filled at Ivan McGlone Stadium!!:thumb:
  6. I hope for everyones sake that the crowd this Friday is as big and loud as that Breathitt-Russell crowd in 2002. That place was insane!!! That was easily the loudest crowd I had ever saw in a high school game.
  7. I went to this game Friday night and thought it was a great game, but I have a funny little non-football related story about it. Throughout the game, my buddy and I sat on the Mason side of the field. At halftime, we decided to get up and walk around to warm ourselves up. We stopped over on the Russell side for a second and a young girl (Russell fan) probably 8 years old or so, whom I had never seen in my life came up and asked if she could give me a hug. I didn't think it would be appropriate for me to be hugging a young girl that I had no idea who she was, so I politely said no thanks. She said, OK, I'll be back in ten minutes and I'll give you a hug then. She came back and sure enough, said can I hug you now? And I politely told her no again and my friend said, "He couldn't hug you anyways, he's a Breathitt Co. fan". This little girl froze in horror at the atrocity she had just heard and screamed at the top of her lungs "TRAITOR!!!!!!!!!". I was mortified as you should have seen the looks on the faces of the people around me. My friend was just dying laughing the whole time.
  8. The only way this game could be similar is on the scoreboard...... Neither one of these teams is anywhere near the talent level of those two teams that year, and I'm not trying to knock either of this years teams. Those Russell and Breathitt guys in 2002 were GOOD! I actually went to the Mason-Russell game Friday night, and I wasn't that impressed with either team. Mason passed easily on Russell when they actually did throw the ball, and I assure you that Fugate is a better QB than no. 10 for Mason was. Also, Breathitt's line and backs are much bigger and more athletic than Mason's. I look for Breathitt to have a little better passing game than Mason did and a much better running game than Mason. With that said, I'll take Breathitt Co. by a score of 34-28, only because of the history between these two and the fact it's at Russell, otherwise I think Breathitt wins by more.
  9. I would love to hear the story as well!
  10. Yeah, it's too easy to bash an egomaniacal 28 year old freshman or however old he really is. This guy always has and always will be about ME first. I would be willing to bet most D-1 players in the nation could score 32 points if they got to shoot it 27 times a game.
  11. ^ I noticed it as well. I wonder if this is going to be the new name for the state finals or what?
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3092070 Sophomore tailback LaMarcus Coker, who'd shown flashes of brilliance on the field during his brief Tennessee career, has run out of chances off the field. Coker was dismissed from the team Friday after failing his fourth drug test, sources told ESPN.com. Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer first announced Coker's dismissal in a statement issued by the university and later expressed remorse that Coker had chosen this path despite an outpouring of support from several different people at Tennessee.
  13. You could tell Tebow is taking a beating in the SEC. He got up gingerly in this game on more than one occasion. He also seemed to be favoring his right shoulder.
  14. Man this loss sucks. Gotta move forward and try to win out the rest of the season. Does this loss knock us out of the SEC championship now?
  15. Coach Holcomb at Breathitt Co. always yelled at the Band Director to shut the band up if they were playing during game play, no matter if Breathitt was on offense of defense.
  16. It is Methycillin resistant, which means it is immune to pretty much the entire Penicillin family, which is the most common treatment for most staph and strep. I am actually in a Microbiology class right now and we discussed this today during lecture. A couple of weeks ago we also did some tests to determine if anyone had staph on them. Over half the class had it on their skin (crease of the elbow) and 4 or 5 people had it in their nostril. Like someone stated earlier, Immunocompromised people are the ones that really need to worry about Staph infections. The upper majority of healthy, immunocompetent people will not need to worry about contracting a staph infection, much less MRSA. By the way, the single biggest deterrent against MRSA is simply to wash your hands for 15-20 seconds under warm water.:thumb:
  17. I still think you're giving Corso too much credit
  18. That lady on the CBS broadcast team tonight seemed to get under his skin with a few of her questions:lol:
  19. Derrick Locke is BIGTIME! That kid ran his guts out and can hold on to the football. I am so looking forward to his senior year and what kind of nasty things he can do in the future.
