I agree with The Old Guy about it saying "Boys Basketball" and the fact that they should be able to post here if they want. These are a great bunch of kids playing an intramural sport at their school and being proud of it. I have a son who is a senior at CCH and he has played all 4 years and had a blast doing it. Also, these same boys are always a part of the incredible cheering section that CCH always has at the basketball & football games and the majority of them are playing another sport, so this is for fun and bragging rights. Let the kids have their fun now, someday they will have to work for a living like the rest of us.

I think they should put Farris in centerfield also. It would save his legs and as fast as he is he would take away alot of doubles in the gap. He also has a cannon for an arm. They have a nice defensive catcher in Josh Whitaker, who has sat behind Cory for the last couple of seasons and would do a good job. With fresh legs later in the season, he would just be that much more effective. And Maile is a phenomenal talent, the best pure talent that I personally have seen in a long time, he has all the tools.

We are trying to arrange a Kings VS Kings game at Champion Window Field, home of the Florence Freedom. It is in the talking stages. Believe me, it will be a very friendly game, there is no bad blood here, stop stirring things up 20Rook

It is accurate, I held the gun myself. As far as the 2 Kings teams, that is indeed the case, and although we should both have strong teams, I think saying the league team is better is probably a stretch. The tournament team will have a lot more power and deeper pitching, whereas the league team will rely more on fundamentals. A very versatile, sound bunch of kids. There are some strong teams in this area.

Joe Renda, junior at Ryle moved in last year. Played summer ball with the 18-U Royals last summer. Will play with Ky. Kings league team this summer. Hit 82-84 mph consistently at King's tryouts. Threw very well in fall league, also plays a good 3rd base. Hopefully he gets a chance to show what he can do at Ryle.

I have not seen this one yet. There are 3 ways to go, power, average, or both. For power, I would have to say Luke Maile from CCH, average would be Mark Reed from Boone, and both would probably be Cory Farris from Boone. Another very good hitter you don't hear alot about is Scott Brown from Gallatin Co.

Who would be considered the best outside shooter/shooters in NKY or the state?

NCC really needs to get their big guys back and when they do, if they set Connor some hard picks he could really put up some big numbers, the kid can really shoot. Just a lack of depth hurt them last night. Boone was very impressive though, Gabbard is a very solid player and should be one of the best in NKY for the next 3 years.

Any thoughts on this one? Anybody think Boone might try some gimmick defenses to stop Jeramie Connor's 3 point onslaught from happening again? I would think he will have a hand in his face all night? I think Boone by 4.

There will be two 18-U teams next summer. The team that is strictly a tournament team will be coached by Bobby Mullins and Marty Connor and the SWOL league team that will also play tournaments will be coached by Robbie Sumpter, who coached the 17-U team last summer.

Just a note from the first day of tryouts. We had 46 players turn out today for the 18-U teams and look forward to many more on day 2 tomorrow. The coaches from both teams appreciated the hard work the guys put in today.

Just a reminder on the tryouts. Saturday, August 18th at 10:00 am and Sunday, August 19th at 1:00 pm at Thomas More College. These will be for the two 18-U teams. There should be a great turnout and great weather as well. The tryouts are open to everyone.

Yes, Bobby will coach the 18-U team next year along with Marty Connor. There should be a good turnout for the tryouts this Saturday & Sunday now that the two of them are coaching together.There will be 2 18-U teams, 1 strictly a tournament team and another in the Southwest Ohio League that will also play in several tournaments. That team finished second in the American division the 17-U league.

Tryouts for the Ky Kings 17-18 year old teams will be held August 18 & 19 at Thomas More College. Times are, Saturday the 18th at 10:00 am and Sunday the 19th at 1:00 pm.
